Patch in the works?

Now that a patch has been confirmed for Battlefield 3, we’re getting more information on which weapons and vehicles will be affected and what issues will be ironed out.
Balancing

Alan Kerts,Battlefield 3‘s Gameplay Designer, reveals that “pistols will be getting a bit of love in the near future.” A slight improvement in the damage department for pistols is certainly welcome. After nerfing the UMP since the beta, Kerts admitted ”it [UMP] got the nerf bat pretty hard. Gave it back some power today. I’ll be playing to monitor balance.” The UMP is unlocked at level 16 and can be used on all kits.
Some fans have been outspoken about the effectivity of the jets asking for improvement. One fan expressed his concerns to Fredrik Thylander demanding “they [jets] need a buff.” Thylander, Senior Designer at DICE, confirmed “they [jets] are getting it [the buff].”
Issues

DICE is looking into the following issues, besides the usual server problems:

More details on the new patch for Battlefield 3 have surfaced including balancing, aiming mechanics, and other fixes.
Balancing

By far the easiest way to take down helis at moment is to use the Stinger against them; however, this will not be as easy in the near future. Alan Kertz, Battlefield 3′s Gameplay Designer, has pointed out that the Stingers’ nerf “is in discussion at the office now.” Fredrik Thylander, Senior Designer, reassured that the nerf is indeed “incoming”. To follow up on yesterday’s post, Kertz explained that Jets will not get disabled by 1 shot as it is the case at the moment; however, no further explanation was provided.
With the UMP will soon be doing more damage, another PDW, PP-2000, is going to be buffed as well. When a fan asked Kertz to alter the PP-2000 to be in “a middle ground between the beta and final release”, Kertz simply responded “that’s the plan”. On the snipers’ front, a fan pointed out to Daniel Matros the discrepancy in the magazine size of the M39 EMR between the battlelog and the actual game; the battlelog shows a 20+1 magazine size as opposed to the current 10+1 in game. Daniel assured that this will be fixed.
Yesterday, in terms of balancing, we reported on Jets, UMP, and Sidearms being patched to become more effective.
Aiming

Some players have been vocal in their displeasure with the final release aiming mechanics, they felt that it was spot on in the beta and the issue can be easily sorted by setting the aiming back to as it was in the beta. Kertz shed some light on the issue by stating “if it was that simple, it wouldn’t be a problem. It’s not the controls, something else is going on. [DICE’s] engineers are looking into it.” Just a side note, Kertz was referring to real life engineers, not in game!

GGs holy shit those last 4 or 5 games or so the other team really got their shit pushed in. We had one game where we lost 16 tickets total on conquest. Had a game where I got 2 kills and was MVP2. Those guys just got destroyed, I was doing some douchebaggy shit to. Like I would take their conquest point then place landmines in their spawn and run off.

The Stinger does not need to be nerfed, there is no reason for it at all. If anything it needs to be buffed, it has shit range and most of the time it takes at least 4 of them to take down any aircraft. I had a guy use 7 flares today, if anything THAT needs to be nerfed. Pistol damage buff is sorely needed.

I have all the unlocks for the Eng class but the Coop one.

Ive decided that I like conquest more than rush. Rush would be cool to play with a full team of people you know and can talk to. Conquest can be fun with a bunch of randoms without voice chat. IMO

I really hate when people will take a vehicle that can seat 2 or more people and drive off without letting anyone else in. Even if you tell the person to come back and pick you up they will just drive off and not give a fuck about anything else. Then the next thing you know that same douche bag that left you and your teammates hangin’ will spawn up on you. Fuckin’ jerk offs. I have a feeling these kinds of douchetards are from COD and care only about their own glory and know nothing of team work.

GGs to Akimbo, Pun and Veeektor, was doing well till that last game where we got the Super Idiot Squad on our team. Guy was already an officer and didn’t do shit in any game.

Yeah I would’ve stayed but my shit glitched out and I lost my HUD and couldn’t respawn pretty gay…

…I’m becoming a better pilot ever so slightly. It’s hard NOT to shoot a enemy jet as you try to close the gap but you NEED to be almost on his ass to take him out with shots from your chaingun. Also lol@people freaking out from the “lock-on beep” as I call it and sending flares out…funny.

AT Mines are really fucking good, they do not go away when you die. Basically you can just plant them on a conquest road and leave then collect your points later.

ugh, I need to play with you guys. I’m always stuck with teams that don’t drop ammo or health! Mines are awesome, half the time I don’t even know what I hit. You can just leave it near flag spots and they work so well. I haven’t tried it yet but can you plant one on top of a neutral tank so when some enemy goes in it blows up? (it won’t blow up if your teammate is using it). That would be hilarious if it worked.

EA also needs to fix the damn battlelog. After yesterday, invites don’t show up on my control panel anymore but I can send it out fine. I have to start a party just so my friends can come in and I can’t join their already existing one.
