ive never seen a defense have such disregard for a person’s #1 option THIS MUCH. it was either very disrespectful or very idiotic, well, not or, it was both. leading up to the game all everyone was askign was how were they going to defend gronk…apparently their answer was not at all…lol. atleast put a safety or corner on him, all night they had some random linebacker on him or no one at all.

They probably figured they needed a linebacker on him to contain him because he’ll just walk over your average defensive back.

That is a very fair assessment.

Instead of playing a third string linebacker, try putting at least your defensive end on the guy in man coverage or rush the fuck out of Brady so he doesn’t have time to find him in the open.

You guys realize the Steelers secondary is young and inexperienced and it showed. They need to shore up communication badly buts that was expected from this team which might have the worse secondary in the league. Also the Pats kept sub packaging and you could tell this unit wasn’t ready for it. The Steelers are going to be great offensively but be absolutely horrendous on defense. And truth be told so will the Pats. They gave up so many yards to Brown/Miller/Williams but people ain’t talking about this cause they won. While Wheaton is a great 3 he is no Bryant and Bell also could of ran for 200 and been a thing in red zone and passing and they still gave up almost 500 yards with guys like Darius Hayward Bay as a WR…

Teams need to start blitzing Brady more.

You can’t double block Gronkowski because Brady will just offload the ball on someone else if you don’t have man to man. He’s just too quick at releasing it and too quick at finding his options.

You can’t single block Gronkowski because unless you’re a Pro Bowler it’s not happening.

The only real answer is to force Gronkowski to do more blocking by blitzing more.

Pretty much this. The Ravens ( back when they had Lewis) would basically make Brady feel uncomfortable at all times thus keeping the game winnable.

This is the same reason the chargers had such a good track record against manning last decade. The Sha(u)[w]n[e]'s and Jamal Williams were always in his face and around his feet.

It’s all about comfort with these elite guys. I can’t wait to watch the first MIA v NE game. I want to see Suh do some mean shit. He better be on his best behavior the week before that game, don’t wanna see and shady NFL business. Like suspending him for a game… that happens to be against the pats.

It wasn’t a coaching decision. Gronk split out wide, no one immediately went to cover him, Brady hurried the team up before someone got out there = Easiest TD ever.

Maybe the idea was that if no one covered Gronk at the line of scrimmage, he wouldn’t know what to do to beat someone who wasn’t there, and would just get stuck there without anything to do.

I’m still trying to figure out why they traded Sio. I can truly see that Smith is definitely an upgrade but I’m hearing that it was something personal between him and Del Rio.
