The Office (US)

Last episode wasn’t that good because there wasn’t enough DWIGHT!

i dunno, that ep had me cracking up…but more importantly - 1 hour finale next week. don’t give up on the office yet kids!

It was just OK. Obviously not one of the best offices, but it had it’s few moments.

Stop The Us Office Hate You Uk Cock Monglers

Fucking Terrorists

Just watched every Office episode in the last 2 weeks. Pretty cool show, although I haven’t seen the latest one. Dwight needs his own show.

It was an okay episode. The ending clip made me go :wtf:. I wonder what it’s trying to set up.

latest episode was blah. This show needs to stay in the office more. They go out too much now.

Meh I disagree, its def never gonna get back to season 2/3 quality, but we’re still left with caricatures of the original characters that still make it work for an office fan IMO

I mean cmon You kiss her, you kiss her good was a great michael line, execution was perfect.

this basically happens on all comedies, the things we find funny eventually become the whole of the character…

yeah but it works better in an office styled show, and if nothing else you can be happy that the exact same thing didnt happen to AD as theyre pretty similar type shows.

actually I still want more AD eps so nm…

60% of my bitterness comes from just having finished the UK Office.

Chars in terms of believability:

David > Michael
Tim > Jim
Pam > Dawn
Kevin > Keith
Garrett… = …Dwight
Jan’s equivalent >>>>>>>>>>> Jan

Chars in terms of likeability:

Michael >>>> David (but is this a good thing?)
Jim > Tim
Pam >>>>>>>>> Dawn
Kevin >>>> Keith
Dwight > Garrett

So I guess the shows eventually aimed for two different things completely. I’m just pissed because it started off intelligent and witty, and ended up just another run of the mill sitcom. That’s my main gripe.

Hmm, I gotta disagree with that one…

It’s pretty funny that you are claiming this is becoming just a run of the mill sitcom when you have an avatar with a screenshot of one of the best and most unique episodes of Office, both UK AND US, and that was only what, 2 weeks ago?

Come on guys, stop the Office hate. It doesn’t make any sense, it’s still one of the wittiest, best-written comedies on all of TV right now.

^_-;

That’s the thing; I disagreed with the ep being all that funny. I liked the ep before that one though. (Unless i’m confused). It’s still the best comedy on TV right now… but fallen far.

I think my hate just stems because the qualities dropped and I just re-watched UK. I will love it again in a few days.

you didnt think Night Out was funny?? Or the new one wasnt? Or the stanley sass ep?

I thought Michael finding a girl was the best of the lot. Night out was good, but not as great as that one. I thought the Stanley ep was decent. Nothing great, but it was good. Latest one felt like it was clutching at straws. I was honestly thinking “What am I watching… whatever it is, it isn’t The Office”.

Last episode was filler. Meh, they can’t all be great.

Looking forward to the season finale though. Feels like something big is going to happen.

Needs more cokehead Ryan.

That’s the key point right there. I agree that the two versions started in the same place and eventually diverged, but I think it was more out of necessity than anything else. Since the UK version was only 12 eps long (plus the special), they didn’t have to worry about making their characters likeable or adding filler episodes where there isn’t a ton of character progression. There is no the way the American Office could have had a four season run if Michael was as unlikeable and incompetent as David, or if they didn’t keep changing the relationships between the characters.

The first season of the US Office was pretty similar to the UK version because they weren’t sure if they would be making any more eps, so they went all-out without any concern about having to stretch it out. Once it became apparent that the show was a hit, the subsequent seasons did stuff that a popular show needs to do to extend its run; namely, develop the supporting cast and make the main characters people you could root for. Michael needed to have some sympathetic moments to balance out his antics or the show would become unbearable. He doesn’t show any aptitude for his job until the second season because the writers knew that if he was as bad at his job as David, there was no way that they could continue the show for a long period of time. The ancillary characters are also much more defined than in the UK version, because you can get a lot of mileage out of people like Angela and Kevin and even Roy.

I admit that the US Office isn’t the same show as it used to be, but I really don’t think any show could maintain that kind of pace for this long. And the season finales have traditionally been great, so they could still end the season on a high note.

I do agree that this season has a lot of “out of the office” office stuff. Which is different. I’d love to see more in the office antics. Unless it’ll be like Naruto, where the main guy is Sasuke.

Nothing beats the Finer Things Club

The season finale has definitely made up for the last few eps.

Man this show is just mindblowing!
