The offical quit crying about Juri thread

DarthTrey - thanks for the tips… yeh, I abused jump ins cause of the fact that he didn’t anti air, but if I knew that headbutt beats dive kicks clean I think I would have been playing differently. I think sometimes it feels too hard (or weird) to approach opponent on ground when I play Juri, but I’m getting a lot more comfortable with her now.

Anemone - nice, didn’t know that. Is it guaranteed every time? Cause I noticed there’s different types of trades in ssf4, like where Ryu can still trade dp to ultra 1, but only a certain type of trade… If that makes any sense lol.

Situational Question

So I’m finding that when both my opponent and myself are on opposing sides of the screen, I’m at a loss as to what to do to K.O. them. The dive kick doesn’t go far enough (and wouldn’t be very safe even if it did), and her fireball (fujahin (sp?)) doesn’t reach far enough. Is there a smart move to make in this situation, or is Juri just at a disadvantage here?

Really depends on who you’re up against. I’ve had pretty good success by getting LK and MK Fuhajins at the ready, deploy whichever one will counter whatever the anticipated counter is (shotos with projectiles, MK, characters that stay on the ground like Blanka or Hakan, the LK) followed by a dash in and releasing the other one. Then I dash out and rinse repeat.

At worst, it’s getting some chip damage. At best, the turtle gets tired and jumps, and you punish with dive kick.

Store a RH fireball, start moving forward, throw out a lk one so that they have to jump, or make some kind of move, react accordingly.

You have to make the opponent move for you,instead of you moving to them. I find that Juri is more control based then rushdown/stall,etc.

Juri’s Fighting style

Is it me or does anyone else think she fights close to jhun hoon from the KOF series i’m talking about their moves even though they both use TKD

TBH, I’m pretty sure this belongs in this Character Specific area, but I find her pretty dry… There is only so much she can do and when pressured, has no real way of getting out of trouble besides baiting a quick counter or an ex pinwheel… and no real anti-air kinda sucks :expressionless:

pinwheel is not broken and can be punished. her recovery is not godlike and again you can punish her easily. k thx :woot:

Should probably make one of these threads in each of the new characters subforums because everyone is salty that the characters got nerfed so much since beta.

Well then, I’ll start.

I’m beginning to notice that at the character select screen, when people realize I have picked Juri (when they are given the option to select their Ultra) occasionally I get an opponent who disconnects.

Then they should just pick Bison, DeeJay or Cammy, a few characters who seem to give her trouble.

Why should we be able to mash EX pinwheel almost as effectively as Rufus mashes EX Jesus Kick? Thats unfair and needs to be nurfed asap.

Juri has one of the best anti-airs in the game. Crouching Fierce Punch is beastly.
