The NSJ Anthologies. Part 4. Return of the King, Hang's revenge!

fp broken or not… i will be at poly tomorrw ggpo

NSJ: I need all of your individual responses/opinions. After realizing how there’s going to be repairs needed in the gameroom currently as well as in the future, I’m going to step up and ask Harrison for permission to fix the games with my own parts.

Give me your thoughts on this b/c I don’t think he has too much time on his hands to stop by then he usually does, while for me the advantage is that since I show up all 5 days to the gameroom (schedule depends and I won’t be there all day), I’ll be able to fix up anything right a way.

Let me know guys.

if that were possible i think that would be great… yr the perfect guy to do that since u have experience w/ arcade cabs… and how often is harrison there anyway? like does he drop by once a day?

i hope this isnt inconvient for u though… using yr own parts and all. i’d donate some $ =]

good luck

if you do fix them i say you dont use your own parts cause there is no point for you to use your parts when its not your arcade…ask him for the parts and tell him that you will fix them since he isnt always there… or use your parts and tell him to repay you back…cause you know people gonna be mashing on that shit and its gonna break again… but you fixing them is a good idea cause you know about it…

p.s…
is there any way you can tweak them so that i can press one button for rc?? but dont tell anyone…

i rc with no buttons.

hey Eugene, that sounds like a terrific idea. I am all for it, but i do have doubts about it though.

What happens if you fix it properly, but all of a sudden, the machine turns off and never works again? do you think they will hold you responsible even though it was not your fault that the machine broke? you just have to take a look at the whole situation, and know what you are getting yourself into. I mean, i don’t have any doubts that you could work on the cabs, its just that things could happen (again not your fault), and you might be the prime suspect being that you had worked on the machine.

i also doubt that this would really go through, only because they might fear that you will hook-up people with free credits, then the gameroom will lose out on money. but whatever happens, good luck.

and if it does go through, use their parts just as hungbee said, so that your shit won’t get messed up.

good luck man!

Edit:

mike is so damn gay…

Fuck fixing it…just bring your cabinet :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously, I doubt that there’s a chance that you’re able to fix it for many reasons. One of them is that you’re not a worker for ASI. The other would be that I’m 100% positive that the machines there are insured by someone with a heavy checkbook, and they wouldn’t want a student to be touching there machine’s guts…broken or not. I mean I know I’d be pissed if I invested my money into a expensive machine that, if broken, was handled by a stranger (experienced or not)…then I’d hand the real technician his ass for letting that happen.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuut, what I do think we can do (all who go to Cal Poly) would be to print out your student bill, show them the $64.00 and $19.00 that you pay for the ASI and Student Union fee, then bitch about how the only real return that’s of any use to you (other than the bathroom and the 2 food places that you go to) is fuckin’ broken and has been for almost 2 months. Tell 'em you want your tuition’s worth dammit!!

hey guys… i made a new aim name, its a new year and time for a change… its in my profile

I’ll keep all those things in mind guys. I’ll sum up what I plan to do:

All I’m going to be fixing is mainly the buttons (switch replacements if any are needed) and coin jams. For anything beyond my control or I can’t do it at all, I leave that to Harrison for him to handle.

Once I replace certain switches, I doubt that they’ll break down right away due to so much mashing. Oh and another thing, if my switches get messed up, that’s the end of that. There’s nothing I can really do other than just replace them again. Besides, I have an abundance of them

Oh, I won’t give out free games, period. The only time though is when I interrupt one or two players in a current game so that I can replace the switches. When I finish replacing, I just give the one or two players back their game.

I might explain it to him that way (use my parts and get some back in return or other things we could do).

First off, who in ASI even knows how to fix any of the games?? Um, NO ONE. Plus for those ASI peeps who work in the gameroom, they might see this as very convinient for their sake.

Another thing, my guess is that the insurance is for their sake if let’s say an earthquake or a fire breaks out and everything inside gets destroyed. They would be paying back from their insurance to Harrison for whatever is lost.

This would mainly be between Harrison and me since it’s his machines and I would be there doing repairs. Hey if I screw something up, I’ll take responsibility; but it’s not likely for me to make a mistake.

Well I think I explained my reasonings and answers to some of your questions.

I’ll keep you guys updated on this.

Tell harrison to hire you as a gameroom intern. That will empower you to fix the games and maybe recieve some money or school credit for your services.

look for him in the gameroom on friday afternoons. he usually stops by often but not anymore though.

or try emailing him. ask sir bryan for his address.

sorry for not calling u when we got to cgl josh… i forgot  , i won the mvc2 weekly =]

harrison was fixing mvc2 today… looks like he repalced all the buttons and even the sticks… so everything should be perfect now

Sup guys, the things I learned last year and I will never forget:

just posting an update on teh Cal Poly Gameroom marvel sticks.

apparently harrison fixed the sticks. He changed all teh buttons (which look nice), and the sticks as well (just as ace mentioned, but i am too lazy to quote his post). But at approximately 2:30, the jab button on the right side (second player) was working fine (i played on it). I go back after work (about 4), only to find that the button is totally messed up. It doesnt’ work at all (well sometimes), and spits out random jabs throughout the whole match (notihng you could do to make it stop). So here we are another week without marvel :(. If you don’t belive me, go as Allen, he was there.

Good luck to you batches who are gonna attend Regency tourny today (1/10), i have work :(.
