The Northwest SF:HD Remix Matchups thread

I’m keeping the hate messages people send me because they are funny. Sadly I only have two.

I just send them Voice Messages back Clean Voicing them. Very fun. I mostly play ranked if I don’t feel like waiting for my turn. It’s pretty pointless to worry about your rank since there’s gonna be someone who is there more than you. It’s a good feeling when you see your name up there tho’ gotta admit.

I need to play you guys more often, Guitar Hero/RockBand be damned.

I find myself losing interest in Remix already. Someone help =[.

^-- I’m to the point now where I think I need to be Partied up if it’s going to be fun. Random scrubs are boring. =\

I was really excited to play against a Balrog player in Ranked but it turned out to be Trace.
Still, that was only the second time I’ve run into someone I know in Remix. =\

People are weird. I had a big lead with Gief and the other Ryu player kept on the other side of the screen spamming fireballs that I just lariated through. O_o I’m OK with that time-out victory, thank you.

I just wish the opponents I fought were more randomized.

I really need to get my 360 stick fixed, there are like three people on PS3 total that have any idea of how to play this game. I hear the 360 competition is a little more fierce?

Man, the only reason why I’m still giving Ranked a chance is because the last two achievements I need in XBL are the “win with everyone” and the 100 wins one. Otherwise, these douchebags who drop and talk random bullshit can eat a fat one.

I need to find time to get into a room with you guys and hand out some free wins.

Rick, throws in ST are very simple.

-On the first “wakeup” frame (i.e, the first frame a character can move, the reversal frame), you cannot be thrown.
-On ticks, on the reversal frame if you both try to use a normal throw against each other, the defender of the tick will win on the reversal frame, ONLY if the defender has the range on his normal throw to reach the other person… in practice this means that the person with longer normal throw range has advantage on ticks a lot of the time.
-On ticks, on the reversal frame if the ticker uses a special throw, it will win against the defender even if he times a normal throw on the reversal frame.
-On ticks, on the reversal frame if the ticker uses a super throw (i.e, SPD or T-hawk’s,) it will beat normal and special throws by the defender on the reversal frame.

So to counter tick throws, you either have to time your counter throws perfectly, or on the reversal frame do a special move that hits on the first frame, or makes you leave the ground in one frame (I believe Devil’s Reverse with dictator might do this). So, a perfectly timed reversal Fierce DP with Ken will always beat command throws because it is one of the few moves along with Blanka’s up-ball that hits on the first frame. Most ST moves are much slower.

Learning counter-throws is probably the single biggest thing that helped my game in ST, when I didn’t have to fear counter throws anymore (except from Zangief). Go ahead and try to tick me when I am using Boxer or Dic, most of the time I am going to get a counter throw before you throw me… (weird exceptions with Guile and Akuma, of course).

There are mountains of scrubs in ranked, it really feels like “farming” to try and get your level higher. But, it does have Cole, Jason Nelson, Julien Beaseley, and a bunch of really high level SRK people on it.

I have run into a lot of competent players online, especially on xbl. Not bad really. Then again, I play gief and that shit is uphill no matter what.

i still need a stick.

negative edge is too hard on dpad.

</3

I think in most cases if your trying to escape special throw ticks with dictator I remember NKI saying doing psycho crusher is the best, as that gets you off the ground on the first frame… against regular throw this will get you punched in the face, but you wouldn’t get thrown. With Devil Reverse’s new invincibility window (which is fucking powerful) maybe it works as well now? but I know you used to be able to throw it.

"i still need a stick.

lol try using the joystick on the 360 controller (obviously the d-pad isnt usable) its been tough getting my execution down on that thing but i dont have any other way to play lol. im about to buy an off brand controller that has a seemingly better d-pad.

Julian: I also have trouble throwing Guile and nobody else.

E. Honda’s headbutt has stupid priority and a hitbox twice as tall as Honda. >:/

Sorry Ross but he can’t use the Psycho Crusher this way except as a prayer that the other player used a sloppily executed tick throw, because the psycho is not off of the ground on the first frame. In Vanilla ST Dic LITERALLY had NO reversal against special throws if he didn’t have super meter.

I know Devil’s reverse works against fireballys amazingly well right now but I am not sure if he’s off of the ground on the very first frame, which is what he would need to counter tick throws everytime… I will have to test this but I doubt that he is off of the ground on frame one, I think he is still vulnerable to tick throw specials. Which I am fine with, IMO he rapes Gief and Thawk anyways.

 Wow Julian. I am impressed with your knowledge of the force.

Dude this Guile is magical. lol!

lol nice video.

I don’t know what to say about that video. I could try to go in to explaining hitboxes and what not, but I’ll just go with the deezo response here and say:

It’s Super Turbo.

shit dood.

i couldn’t play on a 360 pad.

that’s ridonkulous.

Bison’s psycho crusher has a wonky ass hitbox on the first frame. I have tripped and spd’ed so many people out of the move. The anger people must feel when Bison clearly has both feet in the air yet is still subject to trips and throws.

fuggin Cole, finding his way into three of my ranked matches today

just kidding, good games man
