The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Finally!

[details=Spoiler]I finally beat Long Journey’s End. It honestly wasn’t nearly as difficult as Champion Road or the Daredevil Run in Galaxy, but it did take quite a few tries before I beat it. The final reward is pretty cool and can add a new optional challenge of its own when going back to explore and collect the rest of the moons, which I fully intend to do.I do kinda wish there was a little more challenge overall. Maybe beating some of the bosses again with the new prize, just to say I did,
lol. [/details]

Dock socks, Dock Strips, tactically placed anti-lint cleaning cloths, glue felt into place.

I know for screen scuffing from the dock varies with the user. Some docks are also slightly bent in, making for a tighter fit.
So individual mileage may vary.

I still Recommend for most a tempered glass screen protector as they are scratch and scuff resistant, and is handy for the unforeseen accident.
The Switch screen itself is Plastic so it is rather shatter resistant. But Plastic screens are prone to scuffing.

Someone here does an extreme Drop test, 1000 feet.
The Switch survives with little if any damage, one Joycon popped off thats it.
So you don’t need a protective silicone cover for the Switch

I finally broke out my Pro Controller for Odyssey and have been using it since. Where has this thing BEEN all my life?! The buttons, the d-pad, the grips, they all feel SO GOOD!!! If I could BANG this controller, I would.

Yeah the Pro Controller is pretty great. I have that sexy Xenoblade one on pre-order.

Just wait until you realize you can go about 50 hours without charging the damn thing. You’ll be ready to propose

Ace attorney rumors. 2 compilations and one new game, all due out in 2018.

*The first two titles are reportedly compilations due out between April 2018 and October 2018. The first is said to be a compilation of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Justice for All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Trials and Tribulations. And the second is said to be a compilation of Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Dual Destinies, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Spirit of Justice.

The third title is reportedly a new mainline entry in the Ace Attorney series planned for a worldwide simultaneous release on Switch and smartphones in late 2018. It is said to contain five cases at launch, and feature Phoenix Wright as the protagonist.*

Wonder if they’ll alter the translation to stop pretending the series is set in America with this.

I though they are now going with the idea that they are set in a city that a mix of Japan and the United States, like Big Hero 6 is a mix of San Fransisco and Tokyo

Letting you guys know that if you’re looking for some extra space for your Switch Best Buy has 128gb micro sd cards on sale for 59.99. I just came from there and spotted it and went ahead and bought one.

Just came back from bestbuy, copped LA Noire, looks like you can play while the extra files are loaded onto your sd card.

Switch download times are unbearable omg

That s actually a good price considering the MSRP is $161.99

sheeeeeit, 128 Gigs for that?! Hell yeah that is SO bought if I see one.

*I heard either in this thread or the Video Games general one that the physical cart for the Azure Striker game is finally due out soon… I was starting to think they forgot about that shit. I waited because I’m still very much in favor of physical over digital with games on any system… if there’s a choice in the matter, I’ll always go with the physical version of a game.

Pokken– playing as Mewtwo is surprisingly easy for beating the cpu… the AI has big problems with that fat ass laserbeam Mewtwo can shoot out, which is Forward+A (translates to “6A” in today’s terms; I forget sometimes that’s how the newer generations label moves in fighters lately) in Duel phase or Up+A (…8A, I guess) in field phase…even if the AI blocks it that shit does huge chip damage…
it also easily gets hit by that move where you jump and throw a big sphere of energy downward that blows up on the ground.

Played a few games of Rocket League on Switch, pretty good port. I’ve only played handheld so far. But yeah good shit

Game xplain put up a preview of xc2 25 hours in

One thing I’ve noticed about LA Noire. The PlayStation trophies are in the game. When you get one this cool trophy like noire icon in the right hand corner. Thing is there is no way to check your trophy progress that I’ve found. Looks like rockstar built the game with trophy support and Nintendo is just working on the back end to get it up and running on their end.

Has anyone else noticed this is any other games?

Haven’t seen any trophy-ish stuff that I can remember. But you can confirm that LA Noire is a solid port? I had it ps3 but didnt play much since the game was hella janky imo. I got $15 on eshop and was thinking of putting it towards LA Noire, Arms, or XC2

So I have about 6 hours into the port so far. It looks pretty good in handheld mode, better than the ps3 version from what I can remember. Also frame rate is pretty steady at 30 fps, but their are a few issues. The pop ups are pretty bad, but only for things that are pretty far off. Everything up close that is supposed to be there is so the actually investigating stuff doesn’t get bogged down.

The game had pretty terrible “action” controls and they are pretty bad on the switch. Aiming a gun feels like a real chore.

The facial tech held up pretty well. Actually I would say it’s better than alot of AAA games out now. Like when people talk, they actually seem like they are having a conversation instead of the weird shit that happens in games with poor tech.

I had one issue and I blame it on not letting the install download and day 1 patch finish. There was a serious audio clipping issue that seemed to correct itself after the day 1 patch.

All in all its a pretty good effort for a solid game if you are into the detective stuff. Also all the rockstar social club stuff still works so you can still do the “lifeline” intuition interrogations where you can see how the community responded. Solid port, I hope rockstar continues the switch support.

I finally finished it tonight too. That level was a bit longer than I expected. I kept thinking I was at the end then nope!

YEP, I went on my lunchbreak to pick up Skyrim for Switch today…one of the greatest RPG experiences of all time is now fully portable for real as of today. So…on my afternoon break today, I had this luxury of playing Skyrim right there while sitting on the couch in one of the “break/lounge” areas of the building… later towards the end of the day—Skyrim right there at my desk…then in my car before getting on the road…simply because I can.

…now I’m just in the slightly annoying part of crafting my character… deciding who/what I will be this time… still leaning towards “Lucien from Fable 2” once again…yeah I actually spend a fair bit of time planning the concept and overall design of my characters before getting started. Currently it’s in standby/sleep mode as I was picking the race/species, hairstyle, skin, etc.

*Oh yeah— it prompts you for an update right away, but it isn’t necessary…you can just hit “start software” and get right to it. (*UNLIKE games on the other big 2 systems, btw…since they went this retarded route of forced installations…the Switch— you can immediately get into the game on that, just like the good ol’ days as recently as the 360/PS3 era. The big thing I hate about this damn generation is the forced installations… get a game…and even if you bought physical, you’re waiting forever to play because you have to install it first.)

This broad Peach

[details=Spoiler]After Mario goes through the trouble of saving her, she packs her crap and heads off without telling any of the Toads where she’s going.
Who is running the dang Mushroom Kingdom in her absence? Not like it really matters. The kingdom is functioning just fine without her. She probably brought all those hats back to keep them all happy. And how did she even have time to get all those hats if she was “captive” by Bowser? I don’t care how good she looks in those outfits, broad’s behavior is MIGHTY suspect. [/details]
