The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

I really need to play FF4 again and finish it one of these days. I never really made it that far I don’t think. I bought the mobile version a few years ago, but when these games first came out they had no cloud saves because SE is dumb. I think they eventually implemented it? Anyhow, if I am to play it again, I will just buy it on the Switch if it comes.

My fav JRPGs consist of Chrono Trigger and Skies of Arcadia(where is the port Sega?). Trails in the Sky 1+2 are prob in my top 3(also want the trilogy on the Switch). Grandia 2 and Ni No Kuni are up there for me too. So these prob make my top 5ish?

DQ11 was my first DQ(and only so far) and it is def up there for me too. I will eventually play the Switch version and see how the added content changes my mind. My only big knock was the music. People keep saying it’s because of the midi version, but it really isn’t tbh. I just don’t think the OST is that good for a JRPG. I’ve listened to the orchestral version and while it does sound a lot better, you can say that about any OST imo.

I hate the port of FFIV for Mobile/PC because it’s a optimized port of the fucking awful DS version. It’s ugly as shit to look at, they changed a lot of small things for the worst and the augment system is garbage. They added voice acting buts it laughably bad.

The After Years (it’s sequel) is the same regardless of version iirc.

If you can; play the PSP version of IV. It’s the definitive version imo. And make sure it’s the PSP version that’s bundled with After Years and not the PSOne Classic Version. There are a lot of significant differences between the two.

I actually really like the DS remake of 4. I think the VA is fine…mostly and I actually really enjoy the graphics, don’t think they are ugly at all. That’s actually how I kind of feel about the PSP version of 4 with its very flat flash looking sprites. Everything looks very flat and plastic with very little detail. Looks extremely low budget to mw, the PSP is capable of far better. It smacks of Squares lazy phone ports of FF games like 6 which is also dog shit visually speaking imo. The DS remake of 4 looks like a very late PS1 game which I find quit charming personally.

The Augment system is completely ignorable, I’ve never used it.

After Years is grindy trash, don’t bother.

I prefer the PS1 version over the PSP version.
The PS1 version is mostly a straight port of the Super Famicom game with the better English translation than the US SNES version.

And if I can’t get the PS1 version, I want the Japanese Super Famicom version with a English translation patch over the US FF2 release.

I wanna run with the dark horse choice in OW characters and go with Mei for Smash.

Also of note, My Satisfye grip is in one of the delivery boxes up at the front of the HOA, but the office isn’t in to assign a key to pick it up. Also, the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller feels very nice; compared to using a pro controller for a couple of hours and spending literally 5 minutes trying to pair and unpair the pro controller. Once it was paired though, it was actually pretty nice.

At least with the OG Switch if I get drift issues, I can just new Joy Cons (though that is still costing money). My GF will wait it out for Ver 2 of the Switch Lite

yeah, good thing I waited on getting the Lite; it’s ridiculous that there’s issues THAT fast after the thing hit the store shelves.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo just only recently started looking into what causes the drift with the recent lawsuit and such which likely the original designing of the Lite would predate hence this issue. But frankly the drift thing is so random it might be hard to nail down.

Didn’t Spawnwave ( I think that’s the name) already figure it out, or at least came suuuuper close about it?

Yeah, he has a video where he shows a modification where he removed something that is supposed to stop it. Which is why I think Nintendo was not serious about removing it until recently if it is appearing in the early Lite systems. I have no idea if it is as simple as that then the Lite and other third party grips should be fine save Nintendo enforcing similar designs despite knowing the flaws.

I’m planning on getting a Joycon drift repair kit from Amazon and having that on deck for when my joycons inevitably start drifting.

Just finished Dragon Quest. First time beating a game in this series. I had a ton of fun with it, grinding and all. Since I was only at level 21 and not 30, the Dragonlord had me sweating bullets in his final from.

Started up Dragon Quest II. Man, dat opening scene.

Make sure you remember which swamp that mirror is in. I remember spending forever looking for that damned thing.

This speed run is probably the most impressive speed run I’ve seen next to someone doing a blindfold run of Punch Out and Super Punch Out at the same time.
