The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Played Mario Aces for like 90 minutes last night. The game is kinda meh so far. The single player is clearly an after thought and was tacked on IMO. I dunno what to think about this game quite yet, although I will say it has grown on me a little bit. I’m still a bit confused about the zone shots because half the time I press R in the star and it does nothing but slow down which makes the ball just hit me and I lose a point because he doesn’t even swing.

I was super hype to play mario Tennis Aces but it’s still sitting in its amazon package on the floor in my room.

Being busy with adult stuff sucks

Me and the wife have been playing Aces as doubles and its been pretty fun. Gonna try to rope coworkers into playing the game.

Also I noticed on the Switch news feed that there is a demo out for shining resonance refrain for those people who might be interested in that.

I think Mario Aces is pretty damn lackluster. The mechanics and stuff are fun I guess but the single player story mode is a big fat “meh”. I am like 3/5 done with it and it’s just not very fun most of the time. The whole leveling up thing is just stupid to me since literally after every event, you go up an entire level and get a sliver of upgraded bar.

And I don’t understand why they even give you the option to change the racket order. Every new racket you get (so far, I have 4 or 5 of them now) is just flat out better than the previous one in all stats, so why you’d use a worse one before a good one makes no sense to me.

The “story” is just really dumb too. I’m at the part now where it’s not even about tennis and the only way to really beat characters is to break their racket. The boss battles are kind of clever but the silly mechanics and having to try and dodge attacks while playing tennis is just kinda dumb.

I don’t really have anyone locally to play random matches with either but I’m sure that is fun. The good thing about Nintendo games though is they hold their value pretty well so if I want to get rid of this after beating it, I shouldn’t have any trouble getting decent value for it.

Pretty much agree with what you said regarding the singleplayer…pretty much everything involving it is meh. Multiplayer is def where its at though.

Sad to hear about single player being meh. That’s the only reason I bought it. I could care less about multiplayer. I bought it for the story.

If you haven’t opened it yet, I’d recommend returning it.

Shit I’d sell you mine in like a week for $40 or so shipped if you want lol. I kinda want to beat it though but I don’t think I’ll ever touch it again after that.

I have a copy I bought from amazon. It’s still sitting in the amazon package waiting to be open lol

Yeah if anyone is interested in Mario Aces for $40 shipped lemme know. May be willing to work with price a little bit. I played more last night and that was enough.

Looked at a couple of reviews and apparently the switch port of wolfenstein 2 is solid. Sounds like Panic Button is doing good work.

Sounds like a solid “DO NOT GET” for me.

CEO did a Mario Tennis tourney for those interested

Starts aroun 11:26 waay in the back

Just mailed out Mario Aces. Good riddance.

After 35 hours I am deleting Fallout Shelter from my Switch. The appeal to that lizard part of my brain that likes to build and maintain shit with minimum work is there but the combat is arse and they hit me with radioactive scorpion attacks three times in a row the last one had me chasing two of them around the place.

Fuck that Octopath is coming out soon anyway so I will have a non graphic game to play in portable form in front of the younger folk in my house while they watch their kids programming.

Global Splatfest this weekend to celebrate Splatoon’s 1 year annversary

Squids vs. Octopus

Octolings will probably be the most popular and while they are cool and I, I do love my squids so I’m going with the 10 tentacled creatures.

Been playing doubles with my wife online for Mario Tennis Aces. Game has been a blast playing online with her, win or lose.

Anyone picking up Octopath Traveler tomorrow? Reviews seem mostly positive regarding visuals, sound, and battle system, while the narrative takes a pretty big hit. Apparently there’s no real overlap in the characters’ stories and that feels a little disjointed. I’m still interested for the aesthetic and gameplay values, but will probably hold off a bit to see some of your opinions if anyone gets it.
