The combat in Xenoblade 2 appears to have a high ceiling, which is interesting for a JRPG. I’m over 20 hours in and still trying to figure things out.
I got a second rare blade and I’m trying to unlock Superstrength level 2. You do it by killing a specific unique enemy; I know which one it is and I’ve killed him twice but the skill won’t unlock. So my questions are:
Does the blade have to be in the active party (she is)?
Does the blade have to land the killing blow?
EDIT: I think I figured it out. There’s a node I have to unlock to open up the second branch.
EDIT 2: Branch is still locked. In any case, I have to get it opened before I can get Superstrength 2.
Press the - button and press Y to bring up the lists of each kingdom. It shows you how many moons you have and which ones you have, and how many you don’t have. It also will list which ones you have hints from Toad or the Parrot.
Mario Odyssey is probably the best single player game I’ve played in like 10+ years. The game is just incredible and the level design is impeccable. You don’t realize just how perfectly designed the levels are until after you beat the game and go back and keep playing for the after-story fun. I played my Switch on 2 flights until it died and I finished all the moons on New Donk City and probably played another level for like 45 minutes. It’s just crazy how much shit is in just one Kingdom. And I also have a new appreciation for New Donk City after hating it the first time I went through the level. But again, a lot due to just how smartly designed the damn level is.
Toys R Us is having a buy one get one 40% off sale on ALL video games right now. In-Store only I believe. Pretty solid deal. I picked up Arms and Pokken Tournament DX

Btw there is a guide out for farming core and rare summon cores in Xenoblade 2, i tried it and it does work, just time consuming. But if anyone is interested it’s here
Currently still really early (just started chapter 3) but have the funniest Rex/Pyra Build.
Rex is focused on Attack/DPS, with immediate access to art at start of battle which does 100% damage on back hit. Pyra has high attack stat plus…
A core that gives 100% additional damage on first attack.
A core that does 70% additional damage on suprise attack.
Basically this leads to me running around stabbing unsuspecting people/monsters in the back for a retarded amount of damage. It’s not always going to be practical (not very useful for facing groups and pretty pointless against most bosses) but I’ll be damned if it’s not satisfying.
There is also a speed-run mode on RIVE… for some reason it seems like few people bought this game; I am not sure why… perhaps there’s just too many other great things out there to pick from at the moment, I’m assuming. Anyway, there’s leaderboards for all that shit of course… I did stage 2 and was #10 rank apparently…but only out of 45 people
…now the addiction to high scores and faster times begins…
Played a preview build on WiiU. Was pretty solid as far as I remember but as you say there’s just too much to focus on at the moment. I have it on my wishlist though.
sheeeeit, I was just intending to get another e-shop card today…then I saw that Azure Striker Gunvolt pack right there in the store… the physical version of that is something I’ve been waiting on for quite some time so hell yeah that sumbitch is mine now…apparently that was their last copy too.
The card was for Slain: Back from Hell which is due to be out tomorrow… but Phantom Breakers is also due out tomorrow; I’m not even sure which one I want first but I’m definitely getting both.
*ha, I’m at that point now (13 things/icons-- 12 are games; 1 is the demo for 9 Parchments) where it continues on to another page of games to show everything…so yeah…12 games now. The Goddamn Nintendo Switch, folks.
