Okay, I finally got a chance to get a good amount into Black Sigil (5.5hrs in)

Pros: Everything?except for

Con: REDICULOUS encounter rate.

I never would have imagined a single flaw could be so gamebreaking. As an old school rpg fan, hearing about high encounter rates really didn?t bother me. But in BS, the encounter rate is?well, BS. It?s not like DQ games where the encounter rate is high, but some fights end in less than one turn. The battle system in BS is really great, but the fights can be long, and the only way to end them without taking too much damage is to use SP sucking AOE?s. If you don?t, chances are high you?ll get sniped by long ranged enemies on the opposite side of the battle field and have to use even more SP after the fight to fully heal your party. Also, you regenerate SP at such a negligible rate that I have to bypass some new armor and weapons to stockpile healing and SP items, otherwise I?ll run out of SP 1/4th of the way through the dungeon.

I?ve been hyped for BS since I heard it announced for the GBA, and I?ll keep playing for as long as I can. The characters and music are great, the story and the battles are fun, and I?m enjoying everything else about BS. But it?s very frustrating when you see a game with so much potential get ruined by such an obvious oversight. If they cut the encounter rate by (yes, ), this game would easily be a contender for handheld rpg of the year, and DS game of the year. Seriously, who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to have every 3 steps interrupted by a 5+ turn battle?

This game could have been a masterpiece. But one flaw, ONE flaw made this game absolutely unbearable. Download or rent before you consider buying it.

I am now on R-14 in Flower Sun Rain.

this is without a doubt one of the worst games I ever played…

but at the same time it’s also one of the best games I ever played.

fuking Suda 51… he is the only person who can get away with making games so terrible but u still want to play them.

I hate this game, but I also love this game…

Damn, Nintendo seems to be taking this health thing as serious as they were the Brain Training craze from a year or two back.

Scan of a new “Final Fantasy gaiden” or something like that. Graphics don’t look as nice as the Matrix developed FF DS games, but it could be good.

Not really a fan of the ds and its game library, but I HAD to buy one for the awesome korg ds-10. They actually sold it at gamestop, which I thought was odd. Can’t wait for the improved version this fall.

Just a heads up, if anyone is planning on “trying” the japanese version of DQ IX when its released, there’s a fake ROM out there that will mess up your DS firmware and render it useless…
