I won’t lie, am actually a little proud of my last post.

I have no shame.

Also this…

Made me realize Cage would actually be fucking perfect for Revolver Ocelot in an MGS movie.

You know it to be true.

He would, though MGS is probably as cinematic as video games can reasonably get, to the point where I’m tempted to say that a movie would be redundant.

It would have to have it’s own plot probably

Also, someone needs to get to photoshopping that shit.

I honestly did not know people did not like Nicolas Cage. Thread is a real eye opener.

I defy anybody here to name a single movie featuring Nicolas Cage, good or bad, that he does not improve simply by being in it.

Goddamn you.

Maybe not improve, but certainly makes more memorable.

No one will dispute that he’s sold out to cover his debt however, he’s still one of the most brilliant actors of our time. It really bothers me how ignorant so many people are when it comes to his acting. Not surprising because all over the world but especially in the U.S. the majority of people are too lazy, stupid, and shortsighted to understand anything that takes more than one syllable to describe. In this culture of people wanting immediate gratification and convenience over anything else Nicholas Cage is dismissed as a “crazy over actor” when in fact (most of the time) what he does is much more intelligent and difficult. He leaves all notion of self preservation aside (as Roger Ebert said that’s a sign of greatness) and he gets into his characters so deeply he does and/or says whatever he feels the characters organically would in whatever situation the film’s plot finds them in, not being afraid to explore alternative means of expression outside the mainstream definition of “acting”

I really respect the thought and dedication that only an actor of his caliber can bring to his roles.

That’s what’s so interesting about him. Even if he’s in a purely by-the-numbers popcorn movie (or, for that matter, even if he isn’t), he never turns in purely by-the-numbers work. You’re going to get great work or an insane train wreck, but you’ll never get a middling, mediocre performance.

Flash fact: Nicolas Cage was bestowed with an honorary doctorate at Cal State Fullerton, as well as an Academy Award for his role in the movie Leaving Las Vegas.

he is wonderful in bad lieutenant port of call new orleans

My favorite Cage performance(s) by a long shot is his work in Adaptation. Two great Cage roles for the price of one.

Next in line is Bringing Out The Dead, and I’m sure Wicker Man is in there somewhere with somewhat different reasoning.

Definitely, even non fans should be able to admit he’s not boring unless you think he just goes an auto pilot crazy so often that it becomes rote in which case you’d be wrong. At the risk of giving him too much credit a lot of the time he’s simply ahead of the curve.

This is a pretty cool interview, you especially would like it Goddy considering he gives shoutouts outs to what you call the “non verbal power of film”

Adaptation definitely his best role, a distant second would be Matchstick Men.

Face/Off and Lord of War I legitimately liked.

Every other Cage film I simply watched for the classic crazy Cage entertainment value.

Motherfucker do you know how sexy and badass seeing Nic PUT YOU IN A CAGE Cage is in the scene?!

No, you dolt! The coat doesn’t sway in the wind because of some special wind effects! The coat moves like that in sheer AWE of Nic’s awesomeness!

Who is Zod? Kneel before CAGE!

Ironically, he likes Superman enough to name his son after him.

Reaction to this thread.

HI-FUCKING-YA!

In a word…no.

He was also supposed to play Superman in a film for the mid 90’s following the Batman reboot at the time.

Lol, slightly beaten.

I read that script. It was really bad.

EDIT:

The Kevin Smith script, which was tossed in the garbage when Tim Burton took over.
