My bad for not making it clear, but I was replying to only point 1 as I was low on time, but it can be applied to point 2 as well.
You have to remember that Blanka is a hard match for many characters, so it’s not like your Ken’s the only one who is suffering. Kcxj pretty much answered point 2 for me. Just because some things (s.hk) CAN be punished, doesn’t mean that they will be all the time.
And like I said in N you have access to a lot more than ‘just baiting’ =P. It’s the other grooves you have to rely on it in, the most being C and A.
N-groove is soooooooo beastly, i love having all the options, especially with blanka and sagat, but yet not dying to A-sakura.
why do people consider vega good in N-groove? it’s most likely just because tokido plays him, but i was wondering if there were any non-fanboy reasons. yes, his short jump rh is good, but losing the ability to do about 5000+ damage with a CC to gain low jump really isn’t worth it.
people should play N-groove to offset the gayness of A-groove IMO.
I don’t think anybody was saying that N-vega was the new craziness. Vega plays fine in most any groove, but only A-groove somewhat patches up his weakness of needing to be charged AND have his claw AND have his opponent standing up to do damage.
LOL @ People calling A groove gay when I said that a long time ago. Fuck A groove. Although Honda is funny… no character can rush someone down quite like Honda, all the while holding downback. This is to most Iori players in N groove (I don’t have a DC to test these things):
-After a FP DP, Iori can punish safefalls via run cr RH?
-After a maxrange cr RH, how can Iori punish a safefall?
-After his B&B, Iori can punish safefalls via run cr RH?
I know Iori can punish most safefalls with his level3 as well. The reason I ask this, is cuz, safefalls are annoying when Iori wants to do his crossups. So I just wanna make sure I know what I can do to punish safe falls.
Vega is good in N because of the run and short jump combo. You can do this in K too, obviously, but Vega is really dangerous N-powered up, because he can crush your guard in a heartbeat.
One of the main reasons I’m so pro-N is because everyone else seems to be pro-A. People seem to think the only way to counter A-Groove is to use A-Groove yourself, but that’s not true. N is really the only true counter groove to A.
that doesn’t really help. i know counter roll and alpha counter are useful vs a, but i feel like vs a you have to play more conservatively. and n is a groove that requires you to take risks and rush a little more than you have to in other grooves. so my question again is how can n effectively play a? i don’t want to say counter anymore because that’s a little exaggerated.
Is it wise to ONLY rushdown after you’ve knocked your opponent down Buk?
I know you base your strat with Iori and Morrigan on this concept, but is this the ONLY time you rushdown, or do you rushdown at other times in the match as well??
As a matter of fact, this question goes out to anyone willing to answer.
Iori has a good hard as hell to deal with mixup after a knockdown (specific knockdowns)… so definitely go for it. Can’t say much about Morrigan but I’m sure she is the same way.
Other times I rushdown, is when I get them to block a high frame advantage move with Iori like a jab or cr MP, or cr LK. Usually you can mix in a run cr LK XX rekka (one hit if blocked, or follow through if not) after they block these. After the rekka, usually it becomes a paper rock scissors game (unless they have a way to punish it with a normal or super, in which cases, it just sucks). Assuming they can’t punish it, then you can either run in start over again if you think they won’t poke. If you think they will poke, go for an RC or roll through to try and combo. If you see them trying to jump straight vs your RC, you can just delay it so they come don’t into the RCed Rekka and get hit out of the air or st RH, run DP. etc etc. If they try to roll, you mash on cr LK and combo them. This is my basic mixup. But the thing is, its kinda high risk in that, if you guess wrong, you are fucked. Also remember one thing, you can usually get a running cr LK in around sweep range vs alot if people if you get them conditioned to fear your roll. Because they won’t stick anything out right away for fear of the roll. You can also rush after a fireball if they don’t have body projectile RCs.
Sorry if this doesn’t help because my Iori sucks. One other thing to remember with Iori, is to counter roll vs laggy pokes, like Ryu/Ken cr RH etc etc.
I was wondering if Iori’s counter roll vs Blanka’s electric actually gives him a chance to punish Blanka or not.
You attack whenever you have the opportunity to. Simple as that. How aggressively you want to go about creating that opening is up to you. This is general advice that applies to any game, not just CvS2.
Not if Blanka doesn’t mash the electricity. Ironically, a good Blanka is a lot more likely to mash it than a random scrub Blanka. In this case you can counter roll to the other side of Blanka and DP/super, or wait for him to stop mashing the elec and punish him.
N-groove counters the best teams in the game if you pick the right characters/order. i’ve got 1 team that counters team bas, team daigo, AND C-CBS. TOO MANY OPTIONS. and i’m saving that shit for nationals, so don’t ask what it is=)
what about rolento in N-groove? i know iyo used to play him and chikyuu still does (both have him as r2 anchor). low jump jab for AA, his set of short jump attacks are really solid, running then doing qcb+lp is interesting, and he still has alpha counters…
any opinions on N-rolento and if he’s a good character or what is seriously setting him back in N-groove?
I’m trying to form my N-Groove team but even though N-Ken is great he doesn’t work for me because he can easily be out turtled. I need a character in N that can keep someone planted in the corner balled up like a little faggot. This use to be my Ken until people just waited for me to whiff a shoryuken and punish me or roll underneath a hadoken during a combo and punish me. When this happens I’m stuck turtling with no tools whatsoever to get back on offense except throwing and waiting for a whiff of my own to punish.
Anyway would Sagat be a more wise choice for me to be using I never heard of N-Sagat, and I’ve messed around with him and he doesn’t seem to fit in N. Can someone give me some ways to make Sagat work in N, or some ways to get Ken back to working?
Alright guys, I just started to pick up N-groove not too long ago. I have a fairly sound knowledge base about CvS2, yet do not know all of the goodies about N-groove. I already know two characters that will be on my N-groove team, which will be chun-li and sagat, with sagat being the R2 anchor. what my team is lacking is a first character. Right now I am contemplating on Honda, Kyo, Kim, and Rock.
basically I was juss looking for the lowdown with these characters in N-groove. i know its asking a lot but i’d appreciate it. thanx n advance
