The Next Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

You mean the 2C loop? If so, you don’t need speed-up at all.

A well-timed :r:+CD counter while in blockstun from the water will beat any of Juda’s rush down attempts.

Also, while the timing can be a little tricky, you can boost into a BD grab right after the super’s startup. The best outcome is with characters that have a long throw sequence (Kenshiro for example) in which case the super will fully miss. Otherwise, you’ll get hit by some of the water, but at least you prevent any rush down, and you cause some damage and take away a star in the process.

Any help?

To avoid the water with Souther I just super jump, air dash, and throw a fireball.

Thouther part of the DVD is pretty helpful. http://youtube.com/watch?v=1iZVOCqjuBo Around 2:02 and 2:30 are the combos you want. Granted, those are flashier finishes.

Basically you wall-bounce them (either with CD or 6B), then the combo is: C, D, D, 236A, late boost, 2C x15…

Look @ 1:10, 2C x 25…

Edit:

I totally missed his Thouther infinite video part one’s comments. Let me quote what he said to Pharaon 5 months ago:

American + French HnK players sux!!! Woohoo!!! It’s not the first time I hear this kind of BS, but it won’t be the last time as well. :3 :3 :3

On some characters it is easier to land 2C C D instead too, because the 5C hitbox can be a little weird. I’m trying to find some alternate endings to that combo as well, since the only reliable one I know of right now is the bird dive.

I suck, indeed. That’s why I always try to get better.

Haha, I’m ashamed to say that I actually know this guy from back home (we’re not related or even friends God forbid!). That comment you quoted fails to capture even 1% of his ignorance

Just like Pharaon was trying to explain to him in his comment, I’ve had countless arguments at the time (about a year ago, a few months before he even posted that video) trying to convince him that a) this is not an infinite, and b) the only reason you don’t see it in Japanese matches is because it’s a scrubby move. By the way, he’s not even that good as he gets his ass kicked by many of the average guys back home, so his words don’t hold any weight

I suck even more. That’s why I am going down to the arcade right now to get some real trainning:D

Do I do the :r:+CD before his midget comes out?

Yer right about the grab invincibity part though…too bad none of the chars I play do =/ (Jagi?) I tend to use Heart’s QCBX2+A super to blow though half of it at least…

Anyone here have any tips for using Kenshiro? He and Rei are my characters.

Ken seems to have both the worse launcher, and the worst Fatal KO in the game. His launcher seems to only hit standing on airborne opponents and you have to be close for it to connect. I’d rather use tripping or fireball-HK, to set them up for an air combo instead.

Same for his fatal KO move, gotta be CLOSE or else the damn thing misses. So many times i thought it had it on an opponent, only to have it miss by a fraction of an inch or something :amazed: :wow:

i’ll be in NYC this weekend over where that arcana hearts arcade is
anybody willing to play with me in hnk my cell is 703-349-5344
i have no idea how to get to hnk arcade from there but if someone can meet me and guide me there then thats cool too.

The hit box on Ken’s FKO is indeed more limited than most characters. But hey, at least it isn’t as bad as mamyais right???

in close on attack i like to use 2b,2b,5d… as a hit confirm. reason why, it’s so easy to confirm what you want to do after the close in 5d. either i can, combo further w/ another 5d or a 2d. if the character is standing or crouching while getting hit is depending on what i’ll do in the situation. b/c crouching 5d,5d will wiff last 5d, most of the time. he has good tic throws too… don’t forget that. 623b is somewhat safe to do midscreen… lol, you can dash while your still high in the air… ftw.

check post #652, there are a few combo in the qoute box you can check out… no off the walls which i want to learn as soon as i get the chance, so i can bring teh arpe???

^scrub tactics. :lovin:

Mamiya’s FKO is a pain to land…hell even setup

Is it possible to combo into the CD and have the combo still land? I can do CD->C->C->D->236A->E->2C… fine, but when I try to start with 2B, 2B, CDE or 2B, 2B, 236A, 236C, CDE, I can’t seem to end up on the “correct” side for the 2Cs. Am I just timing it wrong?

Well, I was referring to the case where you’re blocking the water and Juda closes in and tries to hit you with a guard break or a fully-charged CD. In that case, time your :r:+CD right as he’s about to hit you. Otherwise, your counter will misfire and you’ll end up in an even tighter spot. However, be careful for delayed attacks. What I mean is, some Juda players are sly and will strike right after the water subsides. In this case you won’t be in block-stun and a normal CD attack will come out in place of the counter. Needless to say, you’ll be screwed. In short, try to assess the situation and decide on using the :r:+CD counter or a move with startup invincibility depending on it.

Best advice I can give you as a fellow Kenshiro player is to first familiarize yourself with all his normals and specials to the point where you can see a match/combo vid and know what’s being used. Then, watch Kenshiro match vids and learn. Top players like DK, Toma, and AtheisticFury offer the best knowledge, in my opinion. Fellow SRK’er Tianyuan has an excellent youtube collection of videos. Make use of that. He also has the HnK-Taiwan group amongst his favourites, which is where you’ll find Atheist’s match vids. By the way, Tianyuan’s user name on youtube is tianyuan2k4, search for it and start learning!

Ahh okay thanks! I’ll try that next time. Or I’ll just have Souther rush him to death. I swear QCF+A stops EVERYTHING.

If you hit them too many times before the CD then you can’t get them to bounce up to the proper height. I know you can combo into it with just 1 hit before hand (like the second hit of a j.214A), but I don’t know about more than that.

Generally though you don’t need to worry about it because his spear loop does only slightly less damage and you can get into that pretty easy. Just start your spear loop the same way, do:
CD 6 2C C D 236A, 2C 623A, C 623A, 66C 623A, AC 2147A

Check your PM @ dustloop. I am waiting for your Rei 100% combo:looney: Please don’t rip my Mamiya’s shirt off. Even you do, please be gentle:rofl:

jodonnell, for 2B, 2B, CDE or 2B, 2B, 236A, 236C, CDE:
~>CDE>6>A+C>2147A~E>A+C>2147A>5D otg>214A seems to be the best combo.

Cool, thanks guys. I managed to start the 2Cx15 wall trap combo once by going 2B (x1)-> CDE -> stuff, but the timing on that is difficult for me. Guess I will have to learn more than one wall combo, haha (too used to Shin where you can seemingly get away with just C,236C loop for all occasions.)
