The New Yu-Gi-Oh Thread: Construct Joins Stratos in the Halfway House

I’ve been floating the idea around in my head the last few days but I’m starting to seriously consider doing a Yugioh Retrospective Video on Youtube and depending on how it goes, start doing a Yugioh content channel.

I don’t really know the first thing about Youtubing though so I just wanted to see if the Retrospective above anything else is something people would be interested in watching.

Only thing I recommend is be original as far as content goes

Well the important part above all else is the Retrospective. The other parts are just floating in the head and idk if I’ll actually go through with it.

Here is my decklist currently, I’ll make some changes myself and I am open to taking suggestions.

The extra deck is going to change pretty soon. Since I’m running 3 Luster Pendulum I would run 1 Majester because otherwise I have dead Lusters, or I would remove the 3 lusters completely in favor of something else like Kirin (I’m not going to pay for Avians, nor do I believe I need to run them).

At my locals there was a guy running Ebon Illusion Magician with a copy of Dark Magician in his main deck to use the effects. Summoner’s Art does search for Dark Magician as well, and it is a level 7 monster, so you can make more plays. I just don’t know if running Ebon is worth it.

As for more extra deck stuff, I’m thinking about removing most of those rank 4’s outside of Castel, Majester and Dweller in favor of adding either Big Eye, Draco, and Clear wing. Any thoughts on that?

And I’m completely lost on most of the side deck, I know MST would stay, and Chaos Hunter would stay for certain.

Any suggestions on my OEM deck? I’ve also just constructed my PePe deck, at the moment I’m not running any instant fusions, or brilliant fusion + serphanite (I probably should, but meh). And is Caringorgon needed at all? Or is it just a cutsy little tech choice?

Construct :bawling:

Well if these Regionals taught me anything, I need to find a new deck to play and fast. I got WRECKED. Went 6-14 overall (It amazed me how many people showed up for this event). All but five of my matchups were flowchart PePe scrubs (2 D/D/D, Nekroz, BA, Red Eyes).

What deck did you run?

Ninja Harpies

Yeah with that deck you stood no chance…

But WTF, 20 Match Swiss? That’s impossible. I mean literally impossible. I’m going to assume you meant 6-4.

o.O How the hell did I type 6-14? I didn’t even know I hit the 1 key. LOL last time I try typing without my glasses. Good looking out Saitsu.

Also the deck was going pretty well for all the time I started playing again. I just swapped out a few cards here and there to keep up with the strong decks and I didn’t get much trouble from them. That all changed when the PePe movement came full force. Now it’s gotten to the point where if I ended up matched up against Pepe and didn’t top Hanzo and/or Anti-Spell I was more or less screwed. So now I need to find a different deck that I could play which means I’m going to actually pay money for said cards. Ugh.

@xEGAxBeastkingx Why aren’t you running pure out of curiosity? I would think that ninjas would cause consistency issues.

The deck was originally built around putting Dark Simorgh lock in motion. Hanzo made it much easier to achieve.

If you think the PePe movement was bad there, you’re not going to enjoy the next 3 months. It’s going to be Tier 0.

Who said I was even going to play during the next format? Everyone and their mother is/will be playing that deck. The six guys I played today that used it just made me hate it much more than I already did.

@xEGAxBeastkingx If you are playing to win and don’t want to play PePe then you might as well retire for a little bit.

I guess you can compete using Kozmos if you buy EVERYTHING. Deck is expensive as balls though.

If you want to win sometimes you can just play what you want.

Just the fact that I use Harpies should tell you that I’m not the type that takes the game seriously. I just play it for fun. Also the last time that I actually paid money for a card I was just starting college so it’s been…4 years?

And your point is? I haven’t paid money for shit either and I just got my invite. Don’t be hiding behind that shit or behind playing casually, it’s not an excuse.

But whatever man, see you in 2017 I guess if at all.

My point is that I don’t see the need to drop half a paycheck to make a viable deck unlike most of the serious players these days. That’s just a total waste of money. I play this game because I find it fun. I can’t find enjoyment in it when everyone and their mother is going to want to play the same deck because it’s considered the best. You call it excuses and hiding. I call it common sense. Also 2017? This deck won’t be dominate for that long.

You’re on SRK and you’re complaining about people using the top tiers in something?

And it is excuses.

“I don’t want to spend money to make a better deck”

You don’t need to, you can be smart and build a deck without needing to.

“I don’t want to face the same deck over and over again, because it’s boring”

Then what’s the point of complaining about spending money if you’re going to be bored facing the top deck anyway?

If you don’t want to play then fine, you’re an adult. Hell I’m barely finding any reason to play the coming format either, only staying in it due to Kaijus getting that busted ass spell. But don’t expect me to shed a tear for you falling back on playing casual and not spending money, because that’s not an excuse for laziness. You’re never going to find any fun in the game if you’re going to hide behind that. You can be casual and spend no money and still find ways to push your deck to viability, I’ve done it ever since I’ve come back to the game.

As for the deck not being dominant that long, it won’t be Tier 0 dominant but it’s going to be a year before it gets truly strong hits. Konami tends to avoid killing decks until a year has passed. They’ll give it small hits, but nothing groundbreaking.
