Okay, updates galore. Shadow Specters previews start on the 14th. HARPIE DANCER is an Ultra in Joey’s World. Sixth Sense is a common (which actually makes it harder to pull).
On the tourney scene…well…just check the new updates I put on the list in the OP. We’re in trouble right now.
My boys wnet to YCS I was gonna go but Povertfest took priority, two of them didn’t place but the other two placed 230 Running X-Sabers and 252 Running Twilight Dragons. While one of the ones didn’t place people were still imprssed by the Karakuri deck he was running.
First news. YCS London. Dragons dominate again, no surprise.
But the actual non-obvious news. Shadow Specters, imports and rarities out now. Here’s the list.

Too bad I’m too cheap to get anything new. Thank god for Dueling Network/YGOPro. Guess I can take up my hallmate’s offer of a duel on YGOPro when this new stuff drops.
Konami has to bring bottomless, compuls, macro cosmos, DFissure, and book of moon to 2. And they have to slaughter dragons and balance mermails and prophecy.
Im only moving to magic because dragons ruined the game for me and konami makes some dumbass choices for ban list season.
I’ve been out of the YGO loop for quite some time (years, actually). But recently I’ve checked out these “lswarm” cards and wondered how they’d fare with dark counterparts in the same deck. Has anyone tried doing that?
Compulsory can’t go past 1. It’s too versatile now to the point it’s brain dead. It has Book of Moon syndrome, only it’s better. It does EVERYTHING. No such thing as any sort of defensive Synchro or Xyz with Compulsory around.
Bottomless also can’t go past one, but that’s more because of Myrmeleo being able to search it at will. The point of this ban list was to take out the staple lineup of traps and have people think. On that merit, it actually succeeded. People have to use more personal tech now. You’ll rarely see Trap Lineups that are 95% similar anymore unless you play Mermails which only play Abyss-Sphere. Even Rulers have varied trap lineups.
Macro/D-Fissure I agree. I don’t like how they essentially massacred the Banish decks with that limit.
Book of Moon as well. Compulsory has essentially taken the slot that Book of Moon used to have. Too powerful to be anything past limited, but not broken enough to ban. Book of Moon isn’t as omnipresent. Does good, not great, isn’t really a staple these days.
Rulers need to go, I agree. While it’d be nice if they completely crippled them or got rid of the cards entirely, I doubt they will. Return and Sixth Sense being gone along with some semi-limits is a start though, and with 3 month lists they can afford to go at a steady pace.
Mermails have barely topped at all after the halfway point of this format. And it’s not because of an increase in Rulers because Rogue Decks are still topping all the time. They’re honestly perfect where they’re at right now. As for Prophecy, they’re topping a bit more but again, nothing supremely overpowering about them short of Spellbook of Fate. At most I’d give Fate a look because it is a snapped card, but it’s a snapped card with a hefty cost. And Prophecy has to worry more with things like Mistake released and Riding Together on the way.
