Makes me wonder what would’ve happened if Levy didn’t shit the bed against Cunningham in the first place. Because his deck was a lot more well positioned against Paleos. I’m honestly surprised Cunningham was able to take a game.
Too many people dismissed Kaijus when Paleos only got stronger with Lost Wind’s release. I’ll even say it, Lost Wind is the strongest Non-Zoo/Grass card that came out in RATE. Way too many people overlooked it (for understandable reasons but still). If you don’t have your playset, immediately change that.
Doesn’t have to be. Ultimate beauty of Zoodiacs. Unlike every other Tier 0, their worth isn’t in how they’re dominating every other deck.
Think of Tier 0 Decks like big Marvel Comics events. Most of the time, they’re like the Thanos Imperative or Onslaught. Everyone against this one deck, terrorizing and destroying everything in its path.
Zoodiacs however, are the Secret Invasion, or possibly Spider-Island. They win the war based on subterfuge or infection. They’re not trying to dominate everything by force, rather worm its way into every facet of the game. And in that matter they’ve succeeded.
Yes, Paleos ended up winning YCS Atlanta. But it was a great call knowing that 1) Lost Wind was supremely underrated and 2) Kaijus were starting to fall out of favor which makes Toadally Awesome a lot tougher to deal with when Zoodiacs aren’t huge on attack power.
But because Zoodiacs have their fingers in every strategy and the ability to adapt with absurd ease, don’t expect that to happen again. Expect to see either Kaijus to come back to prominence, or a lot more Trap hate coming out of the side like Denko Sekka, Trap Stun or even Wiretap (all three were already seeing a modicum of sideboard play at the event).
the whole thing baffles me, i mean it is clear as day that zoo kaiju is the strongest version and i dont think its even close…like kaijus out everything that would give zoo trouble, and to top it off zoo has somewhat slowed the format down, cause most zoo decks do their combo and set backrow, last format, backrow, especially battle traps were far and few between, so im shocked how people are not running denko in their side.
I’ve always said this but kaiju are stupid powerful and will continue to be relevant for as long as they are able to be played.
The sad thing is people aren’t playing waterfront with them even though it takes them to the next level.
you can win games alone by simply having slumber and waterfront in hand
And I’ll say the same thing I said to others who were talking about it.
Dude’s a giant prick who I wouldn’t be sad about if he were banned. But we can’t retroactively punish people. If either Konami or the general populace didn’t deem his shit ban worthy before, why would they deal with it now?
