So had to factory reset my phone for rooting purposes - and for whatever reason the backed up contacts file decided to just not work this go-round, and as a result, I have no contacts … so if you have my number - send me a text with your name …

It’s Android - DX to be exact. But they won’t sync, and the backup file I created won’t load properly either … double whammy this time. I’ve done it both ways in the past, but for whatever reason it’s not wanting to this time. I know normally it should save all that information in your Google account and automatically sync with the phone - /shrug.

Yeah man I had this same issue. I didn’t think rooting would cause an issue. It happened to me when my root was removed (I wasn’t able to upgrade Android with it rooted for some reason). Usually backing up to Google fixes it as I did pretty much the exact same thing you did and lost a ton of contacts. I haven’t had any issues since and I’ve even had my phone replaced. That’s weird.
