Any Marvel players have tips for fighting Wolv/Akuma/Sent (the team, not individuals)? While Akuma and Sent aren’t top tier, I’d say the team as a whole has to be one of the best teams in the game. I fought this team day two, and nothing has changed. I still have a fuck ton of trouble fighting it. Drones lock down, Wolverine or Akuma gets mixups. You try to use a super or assist to stop Sent, Wolverine does Berserker Slash or Akuma does random super to punish.

I just played about 25 games with Velox, one of the top XBL players who uses the above team, hoping to get some experience fighting that crap, but it only led to frustration. I didn’t learn anything except that that team gets away with free button presses all day.

This might sound dumb (and I can’t remember your team) but the only way is to consistently beat that team is to make him afraid to call out Sent or Akuma assist. The only way to do this consistently is to a) zone out Wolv (forcing him to just run in and use the assist) and b) have a character at point who can punish the assist (simple example is Ryu Shinku Hadoken; I’m not sure a non projectile character is even capable of attacking Sent or Akuma if they are assist). Another side note is to get at least beyond the distance of H Berserker Charge or you will likely be punished for free (if outside H Berserker Range, he can’t touch you) .Otherwise, the opponent can just press whatever button they want for free until Wolv gets a hit (Hulk can Gamma Tsunami the assist for loads of damage; I think you use him).

Another strategy is just to X factor lvl 1 as soon as you touch Wolverine and get him out the way. That’s most of the headache. Sent with Akuma assist isn’t great (Sent as rush down can be a problem but Akuma doensn’t help him much for that) and Akuma with Sent assist is similar (Sent assist is really good but much better if you can change sides quickly and Akuma can’t do that).

Might not help at all but try it out

I just press Magneto EM disrupter assist when I see sentinel, or any assist really.

Well, my normal team is Hulk/Dorm/Wesker, but I switch up to Hulk/MODOK/Wesker when my opponent has godlike assists (drones, missiles, etc.). With Hulk, I usually get about 1 mil anywhere on the screen, so he dies. The problem is getting that first hit.

After the fun we had hosting the last tournament this March, internalburn and I are excited to announce another Chattanooga Tournament to be held: May 14, 2011!

Venue entry fee: $10
Spectator fee: $5

Game entry: $10/each

Venue fee will be 100% refunded if you bring a FULL setup (TV, Console, Game AND Cables)
If you bring only a system/game/cable OR a TV venue will be 50% refunded.

Venue fee all (or in part) to be refunded AFTER the tournament for which the setup was brought has CONCLUDED (or is no longer needed). If you leave before the end of the tournament you will not receive the venue fee back. Sorry to do this, but we want to prevent setups being unavailable because equipment donors would/could not stay for the duration.

  • If a game has fewer than 8 participants, there will be a round robin rather than double elimination bracket.

You also have to consider that characters like Wolverine, Sentinel, Wesker, Akuma, Phoenix, etc. who have no execution bar and insanely high damage for the difficulty of their combos profit immensely from playing online.

SRK: Some of the stuff on that new thread post are tourneys that passed already, LOL

Chit: Two of the enhanced moves knock down and leave the character grounded meaning you can do mixups with the butt drop and damage is higher; they aren’t completely useless at all. Ermac is a strange character, he has very bad mids and one good low but is combo nuts for sure…
