Cool man, glad to hear it went smooth. Didn’t realize you were helping run it.
Decided to up and change my stick layout for MK.
Previous layout:
2 bl 3
1 th 4
Looks wonky, but the justification for this was that it was the closest to MK1,2,3 arcade layout, which is what I was most used to. Uppercut was where it “belonged”. Even though they aren’t really using the “high/low” format, I tried to approximate it based on where sweep and uppercut were mapped. Kinda made sense with Raiden too, since his normal 3 is a “high” looking kick. 
After playing around with other chars, I realize that (of course) they’ve mapped a lot of specials to make sense with the default layout. Like Liu Kang for example. Fireballs being 1 and 3, and flying kick being 2 makes no sense otherwise. So I’m going to try and switch to:

3 th 4
Now Liu Kang’s specials are where they “belong” haha. Some of raiden’s stuff is a little clumsier, but nothing I won’t be able to get used to. Makes other chars easier too. Plus, I’ll be able to use default settings on the MK9 stick, which was part of why I’m switching. Silly I know, but I like those sticks and would like to be able to use that setup without a lot of hassle.
Also, I finished story mode yesterday. Two words: OMG SOULNADO!!1
the “official” ranking shit shouldn’t really matter for 5v5 as far as i’m concerned. “challenging” a bunch of random people at fight nights to inflate your points while other people are just playing the game trying to get better doesn’t mean much to me (it’s essentially like an online ranking system… if someone plays ranked matches for 4 hours a day, of course they’re going to be ranked as a “better” player than someone who hardly ever plays ranked matches). what should matter more are actual ranbat results and real tourney results, as well as possibly the opinions of a handful of the people that are widely recognized as the current “best” in the area at that particular game (as shown by their own ranbat/tourney results).

At the end of the day I’m sure everyone knows who they are better than, who they go even with, and who they have trouble against.
I do agree that Eraser, w00t, and Sev should be on the team automatically.
PS- I like challenging random people at fight nights to inflate my points. 
People have to remember that this not just a team being made for fun, but that this is a competition and likely money at stake. People are playing to win and ultimately it’s the members of the team who make the choice of who is on the team of who should be on it to optimize their chances of winning. Don’t get butthurt if you’re not on the team. Start another team or just practice and get better so you are highly desired on the team next time.
