The New Omaha, NE Thread - Now we're better than Ryu's U2!

Hokuto no Ken.

make one mistake, “you’re already dead”.

que the theme music to UWA SHOCK!

Lol super turbo you didn’t know how to block a crossup and dee jay killed you in 2 combos. Same with dic or any other TOD combo character in that game. Sf4 spoils people with the combo scaling in it

now you talking.
one of the greatest fighting games of all time. also had one of the best characters in any fighting game.
very good game

juda. roah. juda is who i used

Juda?!

Roah I can see, but Juda…?!

It’s all about Kung Fu Jesus.

anybody who sits down before they kill you is top tier in my book.

Yo ray did u and reggie record any of those matches?

A few here and there, but I’m not sure how good they are. I’ll have to look at them.

I’m totally with you on those points. Juggles are flashy and do a lot of damage, but the fact remains that you have to set a good player up in order to launch and do said juggles, which goes back to your original point; basics. Sidesteps, backdashes, ducking, fast safe moves, learning the properties of every attack (high, low, or mid); you want to force your opponent to whiff or otherwise make a mistake and then you can punish them, rinse and repeat.

These pointers can be applied to almost every fighting game, but especially so with Tekken, since frames come into play. If your spamming jabbing strings or otherwise slow (unsafe) moves against a good opponent, be prepared to get punished. I love using Bob’s f+2, 3 on spammers and whiffers and even the occasional d/f+2 if they’re close enough.

Back to your question about frame research, I’ve found a couple of sites for tekken 5 frame data, however I haven’t been able to find any Tekken 6 frame data infoaside from a couple of Japanese sites . Would you or anyone else happen to know of a place to find the info?

You mean like this?

Granted, it was against the wall with a rage induced Paul, (who is the king of clean hit damage) but I see your point…

Tekken is all about upsets and comebacks, so even if you are one jab from peaced out, it’s still anyone’s round up until the announcer shouts KO. That either adds to the fun of the game, or hinders it depending on your point of view.

if you’re looking for frame data, i always browse around TekkenZaibatsu’s character threads, you kinda just gotta look around

http://www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?forumid=145

Ray branden and myself just got done with some overly intense matches hahaha…too tired to talk about it right now though

Yeah, Reggie’s kinda mean. :frowning: hahaha

Reggie is the zaibatsu

Yeah…exactly like that Luigi.

Good god. I don’t even know what to say about that. I mean…I knew Paul hit hard and everything…but…fuck…half a life bar? Someone call the police, that is pure rape.

I mean in Street Fighter, I can look at the moves and say “Hey. This guy is a shotokan. That means I can expect a well balanced (argueably) move set. I know He’ll have some kind of projectile, an upper and some variation of hurricane kick.”

In Tekken, I look at the move list and just go WTF. Tekken players have to be pretty serious gamers to make heads or tails of that stuff. That shit just goes on forever and ever and ever. It makes it sort of impossible to play two characters the same because of all the different moves; Namco games kind of only do that.

Hell, in Blazblue, the Drive System spells it out plain as day. “PUNCH THIS BITCH BEFORE SHE SETS HER STICK DOWN OR YOU GET JUGGLED INTO INFINITY.” or “DIS BITCH HAS KNIVES, WHERE YOU WANT THEM, IN THE FACE OR UP THE ASS?”

…Yeah. I dislike Nu. Greatly.

It’s really not as bad as it seems it is. If you piece by piece it, it’s really not all that bad.

Especially considering that there are TONS of moves in each character’s command list that you don’t even use in competitive play.

like Kaz’s uf444444444444444

Pfft, what are you talking about? I use that move all the time.

PS YES! Loving the avatar/title!

Ok, guys, Im going to be having a “Best of the MidWest” throwdown type thing. I am going to invite 8 people to compete against each other in a double elimination competition. I will be having this on Playstation3 (superior system) and a 50" plasma complete with digital surround sound. I will be recording this in HD and will also be having some commentary. I will be one of the commentators and I will be choosing the other, not sure yet.
What I would like your help with is deciding which 8 to have in this tourny.
The list that I would choose is:
Cory
Jamar
Chris
Daetrick
Pudge
?
?
?

How does that list look, and what other three people would you guys recommend?

Help me out guys
OH, and I will also have a very nice trophy, designed by Omaha Trophies to hand out at the end of this and I am trying to come up with some cash for the prize as well.

sorry, the tournament would be for SF4, and if it proves successful, then I would also have it for Tekken6 as well. Even though I absolutely hate the game, I would have a tournament for it cause I know a lot of you guys play it.

Hey Whats up Gents im moving to Nebraska in bout a month or so and im just checking to see were u guys hang out tp play games like sfIV or T6

I play alil bit of everything mostly fighters though xcept for Halo3 and MW2 but let me know i come frome El Paso and would be interested in meeting al the Midwest competition

Are you moving into Omaha?

We have an arcade here, but it’s pretty craptacular. I know a lot of guys go there for the 2D games, though. Past that, we mainly game at whomever’s home.
