can anyone please tell me what setting for asus vh236h? do i just hook my ps3 through hdmi and set to game mode?
Hey folks, I’d like to perform an input delay test using the camera method, but instead of 60 FPS, I have an old LG Viewty (KU990). The phone boasts a 120fps video recorder. Using the 60FPS method, your results can be up to a frame out of sync so would using the 120FPS camera effectively halve the margin of error?

i have the mayflash vga ps3 cable hooked up to a 21 in dell 1600hs crt and i can only get 1080i to work on it. i think it may have something to do with the cable but you would probably need a vga box if you want 1080p. dont get me wrong 1080i looks damn good on it. i really dont need a reason to go with 1080p since the only differece is interlaced vs progressive which the human eye cant see.

Can someone help me and tell me which of the LG 2009 models where the ones who had this " ips panel lottery"? Im checking in the avsforum and some say its 32lh30, while others and some people here say its the 32lh20 model.
Also are there any 37" lg lcds with input lag like the 32 models I just mentioned?
I don’t think it can hurt. I’d like to see your results.
I have a weird situation: I have a PS3, Wii, 360, DC, PS2, Genesis, NES, N64, SNES. I am SO SICK of my games being cut off at edges and the text being tiny (but on the other hand input lag doesn’t sound too fun) and I only have room for ONE TV. What should I buy? (don’t say more space).
The “modes” are color and brightness settings, and do not affect the gameplay in any way, shape, or form.
It’s kind of silly.
Star Ocean 4?
The PS3 version does this too (X-copying at its finest, yes double entendre).
You need to go into the menu, and go to System Setup, then to Aspect Control, then select Screen Overlay.
This will get rid of the flickering on the lefthand side of the screen whenever the game goes to read the disc.
I hope this helps!

Thank you sir.
Will a 37lh20 have the same input lag as an 37lh30? Lag tests done on the lh20 model gives around 25ms of input lag ( 1.5 frames ). Is that acceptable?
Well unfortunately, the LG Viewty phone was broken so I couldn’t perform a 120fps test.
Anyway, my new LG 42LH90 (AMAZING picture quality) tested having a consistent 3 frames of input delay using game mode with virtually all image enhancing functions off. I used a 60FPS camera, SF4, XBox 360 and an HDMI cable to perform the test.
I counted the frames between jab input and first start up frame of Ryu’s jab and counted 8 frames 57 times and 9 frames (probably due to sync issues) 3 times
edit: Tested with an Xbox VGA cable and results as follow…
1920 x 1080 resolution on the xbox: 8 frames before jab animation starts up
1280 x 720 resolution on the xbox: 7 frames before jab animation starts up
2 frames of lag!
I use an OLD TV, I wanna upgrade to HD, only have room for one, I’ve got all those consoles, what do I do?

Seriously someone should update this dinosaur of a post, we’re in 2010 ffs. List of the top monitors/HDTVs for fighting games (and gaming in general) would be handy.
The big problem we’re going to run into is that a lot of the new TV’s have not been extensively tested by anyone. The other problem is that the most knowledgeable people on this subject usually already have their TV’s.

Hey guys Im in a dilemma here. I have to choose between the practically lagless panasonic tc-l32x1 ( 0~16ms lag ), or the lg 37lh20 ( ~25ms lag ). The LG has 50,000 contrast ratio, bigger screen, and looks like it has better picture overall, while the x1 has only 12,000.
Is there anyone here that has this particular LG 37" model? If so, how do you “feel” the input lag? Im going to play tekken 6 and ssf4 hardcore, so Im not sure if there are links that are “one frame only”.
Which one should I choose?! =/

Once I get ahold of a CRT monitor I can test my new LG 32LD350.
You’ll have to decide what’s more important to you. Input lag vs. picure quality. Personally I’d go for the model with less lag just so I make sure I don’t learn shit on a laggy TV and then go to tournaments and fuck up because of it.
I would completely ignore dynamic contrast ratios. They are absolutely worthless when comparing LCD’s. If you want to compare contrast ratios, compare NATIVE contrast ratios. You’ll see more realistic numbers of 3,000:1 or so. Black levels on LCD’s are not very good at all, especially when compared to CRT’s and Plasmas.
Tekken has plenty of “Just Frame” moves that require strict timing. You can still do the combos, but you need to do it by muscle memory and not rely on visual cues.

Basically although really happy with my hdtv PQ its absolutely ass for fighting games as the input lag is bad, the model is a samsung A656 hooked up to a ps3 via hdmi. Theres a mode called pc mode which reduces lag when set to hdmi 2 but it only works for games that output a native resolution of 1080p like MW2 for example, where as games like street fighter 4 that output at 720p it does’nt. Theres also a game mode that reduces lag down to 8-16ms which is’nt that great and makes the PQ look really bad. With all the bells and whistles turned on I believe my tv input lag is 30ms plus and im basically forced to use it like this if i want my PQ to look any good. I believe the least laggy input for my tv is if i use a VGA cable reducing input lag down to 0-8ms, but as people know the ps3 does’nt have VGA slot
Bascially im just tryin to save myself money by not having to fork out on a new pc monitor with hdmi that will be more acceptable for fighting games inparticular. I just wondered wether there was a work around by buying some kind of cable that converts hdmi to VGA, which in theory would give me more like 0-16ms of lag which would be more acceptable but still enabling me to output in HD. Im not even sure wether this would work though even if such a cable existed.
