The New Akuma Match-up Thread *Recent Update*

DP is more risky, so if they’re in range for cr.HP I’d recommend that. Usually the DP is used for jump-in attacks that are just out of cr.HP range, from my experience anyway.

Would you say the higher risk is warranted by a high enough reward? I mean, from my general understanding, the only perk the DP has over the cr. fierce is that it nets more damage if the jumpin is deep enough right?

IntotheSky:

ONLY perk? Don’t forget that hp.srk has invincibility frames - c.hp doesn’t, meaning you have more chances of trading hits.

Only reason to use c.hp imo, is if the opponent is too close for srk’s to hit - or - c.hp xx demon flip mixup if you’re feeling lucky.

that c.hp xx demonflip has made me eat SOOOO many dps by trigger happy shotos that I never do it anymore against characters with a good reversal, lol.

Anyways, hp srk also has a lot more horizontal range than c.hp. I use c.hp when they’re jumping above my head (even when they’re trying to cross me up, that shit has a giant hitbox) and use fierce srk when they’re jumping from far away

Palm strike. If you canceled it should be safe.

Hmm this was really weird, its the first time i encountered a blanka player that ultraed after a throw. Never seen that before, but it totally stuffed my wakeup teleport in both rounds. How does that work/how do you avoid it?

this definitely looks like a great idea against those spammers. You sure it’s safe? Gonna give it a try in training mode, thanks

Does anyone know the best way to beat out Sagats J.MP, i swear it seems to beat or trade with everything i do.

I lost to a Sagat that pretty much did nothing but jump + MP, Tiger Uppers (Sometimes full screen!) i’ll admit most of his uppers were well timed, but everytime i anticipated his J.MP i eat a trade (Sadly none of my Trading Shaku’s hit, seems a bit spurious as to whether it’ll hit or not)

So is there any good way to beat it? or am i gonna have to perfectly time SRK’s everytime.

Sagats crazy, one jumping move that does more than the standard (J.HP) & one that pretty much beats everything (J.MP)

Cheers

:d::hp: or :dp::2p: or :dp::3p:/:3k:

also, training mode.

Did you try well-timed cr. fierce?

I think unless the opponents way high overhead or presses MP late while coming in, cr.HP will def trade

Yup, it traded nearly everytime, & sometimes it beat it (Though, that was most liekly my timing)

Hey guys, what’s up with Fuerte?

Yeah, I know the general thing to do is to turtle up and zone him out, but I’m more asking about how to deal specifically with his body splash and head grab mix ups without the teleport, for if El Fuerte guesses right on where you will teleport and he is GOOD, you will eat RSF loop into stun, and that round has a good chance of being over.

Any good videos or tips on the match up would be nice. I know it heavily favors Akuma, but I don’t fight the character often and just got blitzed by cheapocrespo, one of the best Fuertes in the country.

Honestly I wouldn’t turtle against Fuerte unless you have a substantial life lead. It’s an option, but he falls victim to stHK and just doesn’t have the footsies to deal with you really. Roundhouse, crLP, roundhouse, stLP/crLP/crLK/stMP, roundhouse, mix in walk up throws. You can get pretty dirty, while still maintaining most of your standard game. When he gets meter you have to play slightly more conservatively just in case he tries to EX habanero dash and punish you while you’re busy, but most of the time he wants to use that as a means to escape, so try to bait it out of him. Thanks to your DP having multiple hits you don’t have to worry about him trying to plow through you with double armor or anything stupid like that. You should definitely be a lot more careful when he has ultra and stay out of the air when taking the offensive. Typically I start off aggressive against El Fuerte, but after gaining a nice life lead and noticing his ultra appear, that’s when I switch strategies, subtly feigning an offense to keep him guessing and hope he tries to get out of jail free with EX habanero. Neutral jump or backward jump into very late LP air fireball mixed with empty jumps are a great way to keep him from fooling around trying to stage a comeback with all of his gimmicky nonsense.

As far as the shit on wakeup goes you can use the teleport, but you need to be aware of how Fuerte changes his rhythm on the wakeup game in order to punish the tele. If he’s dashing toward you right as you wake up I believe you can still teleport toward him and this would disrupt his options out of the run.

On Fuerte’s wakeup (untechable), meaty demon flip palm breaks the armor of EX habanero dash, allows you enough time to avoid and punish the guacamole leg throw, and should be your go-to option that you use for as long as he refuses to fear and respect it and before he gets ultra. For techable knockdowns you can walk up throw him or do standard pressure without worry, just don’t lose your wit and get caught by his EX habanero dash. If he has ultra and you aren’t at a life disadvantage just stand back after you knock him down.

That’s all I know. If anyone is more versed against Fuerte or plays high level ones consistently and finds me in error let me know and I’ll get rid of that information.

Here’s a good video to supplement all that.

^that fuerte vid is tight.

whats the best way to punish a blocked rush punch
i mean for all his rush punches and also the ex moves

That all depends on which rush punch he’s doing, what strength it is, and what distance he’s at.

I’m pretty sure if his rush punches are spaced properly, they can’t really be punished with any normals. It’s like Sagat’s Tiger Knee footsies. However, I’m pretty sure all of rog’s specials can be super’d on block.

Other than punishing them in progress, it is near impossible to punish the majority of them if properly used.

i played a very strong balrog and he rushes me down every time
and i dont know how to deal with his rushdown style cause everytime i try to teleport he hit mit with his sweep
