I doubt that was the biggest factor, Netflix likes to burn hot and then cut bait with their programming. They will throw cash but their executives have said on record the business model isn’t to have a long running super prestige show but to have a variety of strong ones people can binge and move on from across multiple genres.

I think it was because (for the most part) the RE films drew profits, as shitty as they were, simply because a) they were cheap to make and b) drew a decent profit
