The NEOGEO Battle Coliseum Mega-thread

Saw King Leo being played at Monte Carlo two nights ago with beezle. Looked tough.

I am really hoping the buyable characters aren’t too strong in someone’s hands, I would love to play King Lion or Neo Dio without worrying about fairness.

the couple of times i saw king lion/mizuchi being used they got raped… i fought a mizuchi and beat the guy. he was a decent player too.

im not worried bout them being broken. atm im more worried about figuring out ways to deal with (mainly)geese and big.

Played s’more Cyber Woo today. He’s a pretty good character.:qcf: :p: stops projectile-happy characters and his crouching D and standing C stop alot of stuff. He can combo into his missile super from his shoulder tackle too.

Anybody got anything going with Yuki? I was trying him last night and the only thing I found that seemed at all interesting was that he can combo his projective off of far standing C. Surely there are better options?

i use j.D(crossup)->s.D->qcb+P. as a bnb.

youve gotta keep doing that power up move with him, it improves his dp and fb alot.

his c.HK is also really good.

PS2 this year in Japan. In the US, most likely XBox only.

do you have any idea how likely it will be to be compatible with the new Xbox? I’m not touching any of the new consoles until I find out which gets the better support for what I like.

Man, dont even dream of playing new low-res 2D fighters on the new consoles. Unless something happens that makes Sony and Microsoft change their minds, were not going to see even DOA3-level stuff, let alone 1996-looking stuff.

Theyre next-gen consoles, theyre supposed to look next-gen, not… last-gen.

The only way youll play those next-gen is through backwards compatibility to PS2 and XBox1…

Me, im sitting and waiting until every single 2D fighter is tested and confirmed as working 100%.

Still, both consoles have issues with BC: XBox 360 needs firmware upgrades to run all games, and PS3 will still require importing all the game that werent released for PS2 in the US.

I played s’more NGBC today with my Mr. Big/Shiki team and Mr. Big is definetly top-tier along with Kim. Kyo and Iori might be up there too I played against alot of Kyo whore who just trap you in the corner and do the same retarded juggle over and over. If you can keep a Kyo player at mid-range he’s screwed.

Mai and Shiki are good in the right hands Mai’s new air super is comboable from the ground(Saw some guy do it today) and does good damage. Hotaru is really good also. Her orgasm super has some retarded vacum that sucks you in if you remotley near her when she dives down. Ai’s a pain in the ass to fight. Floating around in her balloon throwing random shit at you.

Cyber Woo’s dash move has auto-gaurd which helps him alot but his 360 move has crappy range and you have to be REAL close for it to connect. I played a crazy Mudman today, he’s got this crazy knee dive that’s an overhead(I think) and these little jello-spirits he vomits at you move HELLA fast.

I saw some guy get owned by Neo Dio today too…OMG ND looks cool. He sounds kinda like Necro which is funny. He can morph his boby parts into blades and what-not kinda like 12 can.

So yeah…thesres my two cents.

Yeah, Mudmans dive, forward kick thrust, and slide are pretty much unstopable since they have no delay after the hit. And across the screen, just do overhead Spirits and ground Spirit projectiles for good traps.

I had my Mudman/Mr. Big team on Sunday, and I pretty much raped many players with just Mudman alone, since his knee dive is hella fast.

I see players now tend to whore the forward evade then Attack with KOF characters since they are so quick to attack with Hard Punches.

key to mudman is to jump straight up with a good priority air move after getting hit by one of his knees (prolly works if you block it too though block stun might prevent you from doing it??). his knee has relatively low priority, its power is in its speed.

Mr Big’s Spinning Lariat is awesome! It stops Kyo whores from jumping D your ass into combo and it stops Iori whores from crossing you up into QCBX3P. It’s a great tool.

Mai’s dropkick normal can be comboed into her HCB,QCF+K super and her normals are alot faster than before and with better recovery time.

Right now my current team is Mr. Big/Mai or Shiki. I haven’t touched Iori or Terry in a while now.

I’m starting to use Kisarah now. She’s pretty easy to use and she can cancel into her air-spin move easily.

can big’s spin stop kims headstomp?

I started messing around with this game when I’m bored. My team is Marco/Mars PPL. Anyone with some strategy please drop it!

I did see one really good Marco, basically he just threw our grenades and bombs and crap until he could get in and start a chain combo, after which he could cancel into a roll into a reset for another combo. Seemed peachy to me.

Mars People just seems awful though. Teleport explosion’s priorty is crap, and his shoryuken takes like 5 minutes to start up. How are you supposed to deal with getting attacked meaty, do you just have to block a mix-up every time?

mars ppl has crazy air game! range and priority like noone else.
the tough mars ppl’s ive fought have blocked crossups (been patient) and then jumped back and used whichever move his 45 deg angle down tentacle hit is (lP?). that move beats out pretty much anything in the air…i found it very very difficult to get in on a good mars ppl player. his supers are crazy confusing too. the alien egg one is good, the alien swarm in the air one is good and the one where he jumps over you is very difficult to block, abuse them.

a mars ppl favourite is also c.LIGHT (not sure if its P or K) x5->double assault. too easy!
