Main ones.

Who’s all entering the Tekken tourney? That’s my main reason for coming so I’d like a head count.

Eh, I might, depends on my cash flow.

I’m not sure yet.

If I am able to make it, I will enter (not quite sure if I can b/c it’s the day before my g/f’s b-day).

I’ve been playing t6. I don’t know what it is, but the combos are really hard for me in this game.

Who you playing Aaron? I’d say if this is your first Tekken use someone like Paul or Feng Wei.

Eh, just takes time…I’m pissed, I’ll only be able to play it at tourneys until I get my own 360…my friend got it, played 10 matches, and took it back like, an hour ago, I played Lee for 3 hours and fucking loved it…

And got a 12 game win streak on his salty ass with Chun =/

So, I’ll be playing Tekken next tourney…hopefully we can get some warm-up/casual games going beforehand…because I’m going to suck.

If you can do anything in SF, you can do everything in Tekken.

Unless your first combo attempt was with a EWGF or something, just stick with it, you’ll get it. As far as light dashing/EWGF is concerned there’s a ton of vids on youbutts recording the hands of players doing the motions.

I don’t know what those things are lol

I got one combo down pretty well now. I’m using Miguel, and I got his d/f2, 1, d/f4, 1, d/f 4, 1, d2, d1+2 down like 75% now. I don’t even know if it’s an applicable combo in a real match, I’m still getting used to the system and everything.

Also, how and why does crouch canceling work?

Answer please? lol

I’ll give Tekken 6 a try at the next tourney but I wont be entering, I never played tekken really besides a few hours of vanilla Tekken 5.

Tekken crouch canceling? You must mean iWS (instant while rising). Or maybe you’re talking about just recovering out of a crouch faster.

Does anybody show up at Gameyard other than on tourney days? It seems like a decent spot since there aren’t really any arcades at all that I know of anywhere.

Sometimes a few of the guys get together on Thursdays at Gameyard.

Yeah, every thursday I think.

Got it covered Aaron, you think you run this show? MI is all about PapaRhino

>_>

I haven’t slept in a long time, don’t hate me xD

We still on for that money match?

EWGF = Electric Wind God Fist = Sophie 236:B in Calibur. Characters that have EWGF are like… Heihachi, Kazuya, Armor King, Jin, etc. Big ol’ uppercut JF with shiny effects. Usally a high, safe launcher, does good damage, push out on block, good combo filler, etc… Hei doing EWGF at :20. It’s pretty distinct, lightning effect and all.

Wave/Light Dash- Just a crouch dash canceled over and over again. Anyone with a cancelable dash can do this. Has more EWGF, recorded hand movements, and backdash.forward dash wave dashes.

Miguel, I’m pretty sure, has none of this, but my experience with him is limited to my trips to the AFC to play BR. Unless they beefed him up in console (don’t have it so I can’t compare), he’s kind of a shitty character, sorry. First Abel then Miguel. You always pick the sweet looking characters that blow, Aaron, lol.

Finally, I can answer something…

Crouch canceling is basically being able to do a standing attack after crouching or doing a move that recovers in a crouching state. Kinda hard to give an example since most aren’t too familiar with the characters yet, but say if I did a move that juggles but recovers crouching (i.e. puts me in a crouching state) and I wanted to continue the combo. For most characters, their moves in crouching state or while standing (WS) moves won’t allow this to happen. However, if you cancel the crouch animation, you can virtually stand up in time and throw out a standing attack that will hit and allow you to continue the combo.

To do this, you can do one of the following:

a) after doing the move that ends in crouching, immediately press up, then leave the stick in neutral (this is all done in a split second) and then try a standing jab. If it comes out as a WS move (like WS+1 or something), then you didn’t do it right. If it comes out as a jab, then you did it right.

b) after doing the move that ends in crouching, you can do the dash motion (f,f) to cancel the crouch.

Okay, so I came up with an example. With Paul, if you do his f,f+4 move (that somersault kick move), do a crouching jab. Then try to CC into the standing jab. If you do it right, you will be able to continue the combo from the crouching jab to the standing jab and dash in for more standing jabs or a different standing attack. Otherwise, you’ll just get the generic WS+1 and won’t be able to hit the opponent with anything more after that.

Technically speaking, only Mishimas (Kaz, Hei, DJ) have EWGF. Regular Jin has EWHF (hook fist). It doesn’t launch like the others (got a weird launch property), and AK just has a similar WGF (no electric, and unsafe).

Miguel is pretty good in this game. Although some things with him are worse than others (hopkick recovery is worse than most characters), he’s got Savage stance and good pokes to annoy people. In order to be successful with Miguel, you HAVE TO use the stance.

And yes, your Miguel combo you did is good. Any combo in Tekken is applicable in real gameplay (sometimes short combos are more advantageous than long ones).

I haven’t played console that much since I got it yesterday (my g/f was playing ghost mode to get me some gold), but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I’m only one person and don’t know everything to this game yet, but I’ll do my best to help.
