Hey I’m from Michigan but I live in Seattle now but I fly back pretty often where is there a arcade setup. I know there is one at the gameworks in Seattle I was wondering if there was one at the one in the great lakes crossing. I’ll be staying closer to the Novi mall so if there is one there that’d be awesome. I’ll be there labor day.

the only fighting game they have is the original Tekken 5…thats it 
I don’t think we should do the ranbats there because of character limitations, but I’m 100% for doing non-ranked tournaments there.
And I totally agree, we gotta support them for getting SF4. They’re the only arcade with sf4 in the midwest as far as I know, and we need to let them know that we want more of the same.
I was going to post earlier, but wasn’t sure if I should. Couldn’t help it after reading some of your posts though, lol.
Anyway… I’m Katie, the manager at AFC. I’m glad to see that Street Fighter IV is being well received, and hopefully supported by the community. It’s been a long battle to try and get these games, and I’ve been doing as much as I can. When I first tried to get Tekken 6 at AFC… yeah, very difficult. I had to contact other arcades, research, find places that actually had them, get pricing from god knows how many places, and sit through many many many meetings with the owners about it. I can understand the reluctance on their part since the machine was so expensive, but it all finally worked out in the end. I have to throw out a big thanks to Judgment Day for that as well, got me some very helpful information. BR was also hard to get since every place ran out of kits, we had one being held for us (invoice and all) and they sold it (imagine getting that email at 3am, lol), and since we had to buy a new machine if we wanted to get it in time, they were again very reluctant to get it. I literally (no joke) followed the owner around for like 2 hours helping him get some stuff done so he could go over it with me there and give me a final answer (although no was not taken as an answer, because I was told that many times). But of course, that also came through.
As far as SFIV goes… We originally weren’t going to get it. A lot of people asked, but we really couldn’t justify the price. It was much more expensive than Tekken 6, and well, we just couldn’t do it. My original plan was to purchase some newer JP cabs with HD monitors, and hopefully get some kits, or hold out for an international version (which was never released). How we ended up getting SFIV, was complete luck and A LOT of driving, lol. We found out about a game auction that was being held in MA, and had hoped it be online. We found out last minute that it was on location only. They had some other games we were interested in, and I’m the only one in the company that knows anything about imports, so I told him I’d drive there to see what we could get. 14 1/2 hours later we got to the auction and we got the SF4 machines and Guitar Freaks and Drummania V5.
So, that’s pretty much it. I promise I will not be spamming this thread with such long posts anymore, just wanted to let you guys know what’s up. I do read the forums, lol. Have for quite a while (so I’ve been trying to listen to you guys =) ), and I’m hoping we can build up the community in MI. We’re trying to get some other fighters, so I’m hoping if SFIV is successful, it’ll help us be able to do that.
I do have to thank the players for supporting AFC, and a HUGE thanks to Joshimitsu. He’s done more than you guys can imagine (like driving most of the 14 1/2 hours to and from the auction, lol).
The owners are very cool people. If you do want to do tournaments or whatever else, I’m the one that you want to talk to =) We’ll be more than happy to work with you.

Also, if you have any problems with buttons, sitcks, etc. please don’t hesitate to let me know. Generally, I’m the one that does all the maintenance to the machines, and I’ll be more than happy to fix any problems you guys might encounter. We’ll have a lot of extra buttons in stock, and I’m almost always at AFC, so we should be able to fix them right away.
I’m down for SF4 arcade tourneys, but I’d love to find some way to work it into the ranbat system. Maybe make it worth half points or something?
If they have T6 there then you could work that in as well. I understand BR is quite popular.

wow, there is a Michigan thread here… i had no idea!!! Probably explains why michigangamers threads r soooo dead now. n e way just finished up a marathon 22 page thread reading session and its nice to see so many gamers hype for the slew of fighting games on the horizon. Looks like ive gamed with quite a few of u guys…and for the others(who have rolled out the welcome mats) keep an eye out for random FRs and game inv’s on XBL from a somewhat odd gamertag… and don’t be suprised if a new face pops up at the gatherings and tournaments.
so, when and where is it going down next…im in saint claire shores by the way…dont mind driving around the city…down for impromptu gatherings too(can’t really fuck with A2, flint, etc without making plans)
oh yeah. those bum basher guys are niiiiice FOR REAL in most fighters. had the chance to play with many of them and they definitely got some talent. so when is class in session?..i’ll be there
