I recall that there is a jewel that can increase the capacity of slinger ammo. Can’t remember it of the top.
Hunting without palico helps to learn monster since they only aggro you and not kelbi back and forth.
But palicos can significantly reduce hunt times with buffs or molotov.
Also traps have different effectiveness based on the Monster.

Stonethrower, only works on environmental ammo.
It’s actually recommended to have at least one level in MR because flinch shot only consumes the default max number of pod ammo to fire off now, so with some ammo left over you can flinch shot again without needing to pick up more ammo

Knowing that the monster isn’t focused on my has helped when I need to resharpen the blade or grab a potion.
That makes total sense. At the same time I can see a couple of attacks in the distance. Kirin was a prime example of when it got in the way. For some reason it loved chasing it and not me 
Yeah that’s the balance. Bringing them gives you more breathing room but it can make the monster harder to hit cleanly and can sometimes result in taking hits you wouldn’t have if the attack was aimed directly at you.

As a side, got my first flinch shot kill in an arena match with Radobaan. Wasn’t expecting a concussion to end it.
Flinch shot is an Iceborne thing. It’s something you can do while clutched on to a monster (also IB only) that lets you send a monster reeling in a direction. If they hit a wall or something you can get a knockdown
In this case, did the clutch claw for the head, did the shot, it ran into a wall. The game said I killed it off of that. Blunt force trauma I guess.

Yeah, I’ve had it about a week now. If anyone is buying this game now, may as well grab Iceborne with it. Just seems to play better.
I did the Horizon cross-over quest so I can see the “armor” now. Honestly, I was expecting the ability to customize your player using the Nora armor and not a drag and drop of Aloy herself.
There is a Horizon armor that works like actual armor too, but that’s a MR event quest

Wasn’t ready for Urabaan. I almost caught it. Lavasioth escaped in that expedition. I forgot to restock tranq bombs. I went back to camp and by the time I got close it left the locale.

It’s a ton of stamina skills so bow and DB will probably use one or two pieces depending. There’s two layered sets and two layered head pieces though

Played a little tonight. I spent time responding to SOS flares. Playing this game with others is definitely a high point. When I went back to solo mode, I got another shot to take out Bazelguese. It felt great. The monster fell into the fissure and was stuck below ground. I then weakened it for the capture. I also got to see a turf war between Diablos and Black Diablos.

The Diablos turf wars are the best. Seeing them lock horns until one just flings the other never gets old. Its also hallarious when you learn from the monster research dude. That a black Diablos is a female in heat.
The fight is basically
Black Diablos: Hey I wanna go again.
Diablos: Damn woman we did it 3 times today. Chill
Black Diablos: I’m not asking, I’m TELLING you i wanna do it again! Yeets him NOW GET IT UP!
Diablos: Thinking to himself Couldn’t just get that nice girl. Nope you just had to have a freak…*

I use DBs, so the stamina skills of the head and legs are worth getting.
