The Monster Hunter Thread: A Whole New World

Still need a Shield Jewel to complete the set, but this is a pretty hard to cart build already.

Windproof 5 and some fire resist makes Tempered MR Luna nearly a walk in the park. She’s definitely designed as a hunt you have to build against. However, most people are stubborn and don’t wanna, refusing to switch out of their “MAX DEEPEEASS” builds.

I always have Windproof, fire res and fireproof mantle vs her. She’s still a piece of shit when you have to get right up in her face and also don’t have a shield. That’s why I always say it’s about the fire puddles. Hypernova is whatever since Windproof 5 totally prevents it from being an issue but she remains a fucking piece of shit because of puddle hitboxes.

Which is why I play ranged against her. Easier to avoid fire puddles when you’re just standing back slinging sticky ammo at her (which also ignores her flame shield).

Not gonna lie. I’m definitely one of those guys that bought into the whole “Defensive skills are for scrubs” mentality. But after that ass kicking barioth handed me. I realize how stupid that is.

Yeah, see it isn’t just the skills issue. Some weapons have a way harder time lol

My ass was being stubborn when I could’ve cheesed Luna with stickys. Why didn’t I think about that. :man_facepalming:t5:

Even then, with the proper skills, she’s only as easy or as hard as Teostra.

I reserve my sticky RNG Cannon set specifically for annoying monsters I want to cheese (Silver Rath is right up there with Luna).

I disagree for reasons already stated. Teo has nothing like her fire puddles and those aren’t a small issue if you aren’t ranged or have a shield

Biggest issue with Lunastra is the damn nova. As others have said, bringing as much fire resistance as you can helps a lot, as does max Windproof. Don’t forget to bring Astera Jerky, as that’s your best way to deal with the damage ticks of the nova as you’re trying to run away from it.

Also don’t forget about Earplugs!!
Just like Teostra, she can true combo off of roars
Earplugs at level 4 or at level 5 for full immunity!!

Yes…you can roll through them with practice but why!!

Well if you are good enough to dodge roars. Then you dont have to invest into Earplugs. You can use dps skills or utility skills in its place. Hell just slap on 2 levels of evade window and you can dodge roars pretty easily. Which is much less of an investment than lv 5 earplugs

That is the exact advice I give to people that rely on EP. EW is easier to slot and helps with ALL attacks potentially.

Evade Window is a must on SA.

Oh I forgot to mention too is that slinger ammo that flinches like piercing pods, scatter nuts, etc. is another great way of cancelling Luna’s nova. Helps a bunch.

I might give evade window lvl 2 a try but against MR Lunastra, I’m bringing Earplugs and either “the railgun” or either one sticky grenade lanucher LBGS or HBGS
