i dont understand why that fight doesnt mean shit…look who rich was fighting for his last few fights. rich was a credible fighter and rich’s previous fight wit wandy was at 195 too.
I think if Belfort had just another fight, I wouldnt have any questions. But the fact that he bum rushed Wanderlei and then face planted Rich isnt enough for a title shot. I’d rather see Okami/Silva to be honest.
lesser people have had title shots with lesser credible wins…patrick cote comes to mind. dude had scott smith,drew mcfedries,ricardo almieda and fucking kendall grove.

The only person besides Vitor that I think doesnt deserve a title shot is Jake Shields. Dude put on a super lack luster performance and gets rewarded? Give him another fight with a top 10 opponent and then if he wins, give him a title shot. Fitch/Shields would be a better contender fight than seeing Fitch/Penn fight.
Okami/Belfort wouldve been a great way to decide who fights Silva.
when cote got his shot silva had pretty much tooled everybody else in the division and cote was the next guy. belfort hasn’t done anything of note in the UFC to get a shot so quickly, ESPECIALLY over okami. i could see if he was a concsensus top 5 MW, but not even. he hasn’t even fought at 185 in the UFC, ever.
Vitor winning would probably be the worst fighter for Silva to lose to. Alot of people would start shitting on Silva because he lost to a MW who isnt on the top 10 list but also never fought at 185, as thurst said. And Okami/Belfort wouldnt sell alot.

The Silva/Vitor card is only being sold for the fact that Silva is fighting someone and everyone is waiting to see him demolish Vitor. I dont think its going to be an easy match for Silva at all, but its the fact that Vitor hasnt stepped in the cage for over a year and now hes going to fight the #1 MW fighter is kind of…one sided.
But I still say Shields needs another fight before GSP.
I like Shields and all, but that fight against Kampmann was so sad. Get Nick Diaz!
Personally, I can’t think of any fight i’d like to see at Middleweight for Anderson Silva besides a Chael Sonnen rematch. No one else in the division deserves a chance against him. Okami may have beaten Marquadt. But, it was far from an impressive victory.
Vitor does bring a lot to the table in this fight though. No one else in the middle weight division right now has the stand up that he brings into this fight. And we all know he’s going to bring it. He’s not going to be scared to attack and someone will get knocked out in this fight.
I’m definitely looking forward too this one.
I don’t think anyone would be shitting on Silva if he were to lose a stand up war with Vitor at all. Like I said above, Vitor definitely brings the best in stand up for this fight. I feel like Silva would be shit on in the media if he lost to Okami if anything.

i bet there are rotating type subs that arent really being used in mma that much that can really use momentum to fuck someone up. kind of like sakurabas spinning keylock deal(?). a move like that with snapping action would probably snap somone before they ever had a chance to tapout.
