That’s kinda silly. Damage is damage and results should show the winner. It’s just a bit almost superficial to look at how a fighter acts and have that determine who won a round. I know that obviously fighters with more interesting personalities etc sell fights better… but bleh.
Which also brings me back to Leonard Garcia symptom. Just because youre moving forward but getting tagged shouldnt still equal you winning. Some people are just counter strikers or whatever… should let people use whatever style they feel works best for them. At this rate, Machida is gonna be cut soon (heard Dana said if he lost to Couture he would be as well) because he doesn’t “move forward” >_<

I find it interesting that fighters are taught not to take a whole lot of damage but the rules of the ring dictate otherwise.

thats not silly, part of the rules is octagon control+aggression. we dont know whats goin on in martins head, we dont know if these punches are as deadly as they are, but if your face is like “oh fuck oh fuck” that plays in the mind of the judges. not 1 time did you see diego almost get dropped but that happened a bunch for martin. He was gettin out hustled and controlled, then he fucked up his hand in the third. he shoulda kept punching him like the first but thats diego for yeah…YES!
Yo man fuck CB Dollaway. Glad he lost.

Ok, I’ll admit that certain fighter I don’t keep up with. I’ve heard of this CB guy before but never really seen him fight. What’s the story on him and all the hate?

Man, after rewatching the fight… I really think Kampmann still should have got the nod.
Also… obligatory Fightmetric =P

On the finale he fought Amir Sadollah for TUF title. Amir had him in an armbar and CB tapped but then said he didnt tap right after =P

Do you agree with that though? We all know the judging still needs work, but do you feel that despite outstriking an opponent, an equal % of what gives u a win should be how you present yourself?

part of the rule is aggression…who was the aggressor really in rounds 2 and 3? can you truly say martin was more the aggressor than diego?

Ohhh!
I bet HE feels bad he got knocked out by Munoz. :looney:

Diego was definitely the aggressor, but he still got outstruck. Just seems like if you’re a “brawler” as Goldberg and Rogan like to say, you have passive +2 to judges scoring automatically.
If you’re walking forward and trying to engage, thats fine. If you’re getting messed up while doing it… you still get points? >_<
If you’re Leonard Garcia you do, hell you don’t even have to punch the guy to win if your name is Leonard Garcia lol. Just swing your arms in the air and throw them sonic booms lol.

if your clearly damaging the guy yeah you do get points. diego was the aggressor…but not just that, he controlled and was damaging. the most important is the fact he was damaging his opponent plus the other two. can you say martin was controlling and damaging diego…you can only say he was damaging. all 3 played a factor, martin only had 1 aspect of the three.
Do all those stuffed takedowns count? Then yes, he was controlling him and the fight pretty well. Was Diego aggressive? yes, but wildly and uncontrollably so. He was just out there flinging his arms, he got lucky a couple times and connected with some solid punches, but those shouldn’t have been the deciding factor when he was losing in all other aspects.

who was closer to finishing the fight though? martin only was in the first…after that he he stopped jabbing diego to death…then in the third…well…fuck he ran like diego wanted his lunchmoney…prob did with the way he looked.
Except that Martin connected with just as many punches as Diego in that round. You’re arguing that Diego was more aggressive, and he was. But he was aggressive only in body posture/attitude. He didn’t fight any better and he still kept absorbing more damage than he inflicted - and he was forced to fight that way because Kampmann put a complete stop on Diego’s ground game while making Diego’s head look like a bruised up mango.
Edit: Also, saying Diego was closer to finishing the fight because he caught Kampmann with a couple good ones is giving way too much credit to Diego… Martin didn’t even hit the floor and obviously Diego couldn’t finish him.
And besides, there was that time when Martin wobbled Diego in the second and third and really had him hurt.
Oh, wait, no there wasn’t.
Okay, sure, you disagree with the decision, but from a judging perspective (and everyone knows the rules by now), it’s not unreasonable to give the nod to Diego.
It wasn’t like this was Machida/Rampage where just because Rampage was moving forward, he won. Diego was lighting him up as he was moving forward as well. Maybe not any more than Kammpman was, but he was still the one being aggressive, going for takedowns (and finally securing one, lol), and controlling the cage.
How much a guy got “wobbled” is purely left to individual discretion - especially in a league where people get wobbled, fall to the ground, get pounded on, and still claw their way back. Yea, Diego won the round for wobbling him in the 2nd, but that isn’t enough to justify him winning the fight.
Yea, Diego was 1 for 15 takedowns. That means Kampmann successfully stopped 14 attempted takedowns, doesn’t that mean he gets the points for octagon control? As for aggression, Kampmann had just as many or more punches connected in each round, doesn’t that negate the so-called “aggression” that Diego had? What about Kampmann hitting him with so many good knees that Diego resorted to playing hand-on-the-mat?
In the third round the amount of time spent backpedaling is actually pretty similar. Martin pushes Diego back more in the first couple minutes and then it swaps because Diego goes back to flailing and Martin just moves out the way.
People seem to be giving Diego the win because he flared up like an agitated lizard.
