I could come up with many excuses (and there are some; would you like some flu?), but the fact of the matter is I played like a retard. Watch the end of the first round of the second match, not blocking four meaty 2As in a row is fucking pro. I kept trying to reversal EX/activiate/backdash out to no avail.
I think the execution in this game is quite difficult, but that’s more of a situtation (then again only recently am I playing a character that has a standard combo that’s actually usuable…)
The fundamental problem though is that these ranking battles are the only time I ever get to play with breathing humans. Kind of difficult to get games in against a nonexistant opponent. A part of me thinks it’s just not worth the effort to bother… meh, I don’t know.
It’s a practical matter. I know that given the current situtation that there is no way that I will be able to play a competent Mech-Hisui in a tournament situtation.
If nothing else, you can always blame Veteru for that. :V
Does KoreanDJ have the game or something? The guy already knows how to play her a bit. He even knows her air knockdown combo into crossup overhead. That surprised me.
Though I understand much about your plight, at least you have a group of players that seem to be willing to play the game at least a competitive level. That’s a great start to get better at the game.
i think it will be a couple more yrs before MB gets a major spot at evo. it will w/o a doubt be a big side tourney next yr. goddammit, it had better be!
I think it will be a while before MB gets a spot at Evo. It’s because I have the feeling that too many people are turned off by it for the most trivial reasons.
There’s no way MB will ever be an event at Evo. You’re more likely to hit the lottery than to get Sony to approve a 2D game for the PS2 in the US, and there is no way this crowd picks the game up in sufficent numbers regardless of its domestic status. People are too wary of playing a game full of little girls.
Rewatching these videos, I want to throw up and gouge my eyes out. Quick points:
I need to find some measure of offense beyond ‘jump back and either do j.B or airdash j.B lolol’
Nanaya has the best whiff cancel pressure strings in the game. FUCKING USE THEM.
Stop going for two-frame links when you can’t land his standard combos even half the time.
Learn how to properly utilize dashes and air dashes and double jumps.
lolol get better reflexes - 2BBB and 6C should not be hitting overhead, ever. If you can’t block that on reaction, take up another hobby.
I had no business even keeping those games close. If he could actually do proper damage from his setups (which is a lot more likely than me fixing my fundamental problems), I get creamed.
I think I need a break (from myself). :emo: :emo: :tree: :emo: :emo:
I think melty blood has great potential to be the next best balanced game out there. EVo would be the next spot it can go problem is nobody is giving it enough chance like I personally thought it would be a boring game and it is not its quite actually fun if only people would understand that under the hentai influence it has its a great game o yeah hey chib need you SN lol.
Just a question…How do you guys figure out the really damaging combos in games like this? I’ve been fiddling with Final Tuned since i don’t have a ps2 that plays imports, but I can’t really figure out the system very well. Is there anywhere i can find a pretty comprehensive explanation of how everything works?
I use the brute force method: go through every single combination of attack in till I’m satisfied with the damage.
If a combo does around 3500 damage and leads into a knockdown, you’re probably in good shape. If it doesn’t do over 3000 damage then it best lead into some killer setup.
Really all you need to know is that everything cancels into everything. Don’t worry about the fancy meter. Just don’t get hit.
And the wiki got good stuff too. http://ikusat.mac.org/mbac/index.php/Main_Page
Satsuki question… I’m going over her grab loop for the hell of it, but I’m having some issues with it. I know the standard grab loop is as follows: 2C, 5C, 623B, 5C, 623C, 2C, 5C, IAD airthrow. Now I was landing this no problem in training mode against Shiki Tohno. However, when I went to practice it against other people (Kouma, V Sion, Hisui) they were teching out after the second 5C bevore I could land the EX grab. Now instead of using the second 5C I use 5B instead, and that seems to work. Does the 5C relaunch into EX Grab not work in ver. B or something, or does my timing just suck (which I’m guessing is probably most likely)? Thanks in adavance expert Satsuki users. :lovin:
5b is the prescribed midscreen relaunch for most characters. 5c (or 2c against certain characters) is good if you have the timing down, but 5b is much easier to time since it is a much faster move. in your case, if your 5c is connecting but opponent is teching before the ex arm, it simply means that your 5c is too late (assuming that you’re cancelling immediately in to ex arm).
for some characters, 5b doesn’t work (i.e. ciel) while for some characters like len you need to do strange stuff like walk forward, 22a (although i think you can also 5c on her in ver. b?).
but aside from some restrictions as in what connects and what doesn’t connect, you should just go with whatever is comfortable with you. if you watch japanese satsuki vids, you will notice that everybody uses different relaunches. while most do seem to favor 5b, there are many that choose to frequently use 5c, 2c, or even 214a (which is questionable imo since the timing is rather tough, on top of adding extra scaling to the combo) instead.
also, in ver. b satsuki can squeeze in a 214a (since the move is now jump cancellable) between the 5c and air throw. it requires the player to add a slight delay after 2c, but it will tack on some extra damage to the combo before capping it with air throw.
that’s a very rough advice. but i never got very good with satsuki and haven’t invested much time with her since i solidified aoko as main and len as secondary as a while back. so if there are serious ver. b satsuki players here, they can probably give you a more detailed advice on what works and what doesn’t.
Hey to ANYONE GOING TO NEC there will be an official MB tournament. Just got word back from Eric and it’ll be on Saturday so if you can make it please attend!! Let’s make it big!
