The Melty Blood : Act Cadenza (PS2) thread~

I am not sure if you have played other fighting games, so I’ll give you two answers:

Short answer: if you have played other games (especially Marvel), you can cancel moves (like the launcher) with a jump. It’s the same thing, except that in MB you can cancel most moves instead of just the launcher.

Long answer, if you are not very familiar with fighting game terms:

Recovery: the animation of an attack after it hits or a move when finishing it. For attacks, recovery is the animation where the character pulls back after attacking.

Cancel: to interrupt an attack or move’s recovery with something else. Most attacks are canceled by entering a command right after the attack hits. In Melty Blood, you can cancel most attacks with another attack. For example, you can cancel B into C by pressing C right after B hits.

Jump Cancel: similarly to how you can cancel an attack into another one, you can cancel an attack with jump. In other words, instead of pressing a button to cancel an attack with a second attack, you press up. Your character will interrupt the attack’s animation by jumping. In the air, you can jump cancel an air attack by using the air jump (also called double jump).

Dash Cancel: the same principle as canceling, but instead of pressing a button, you press forward + forward (66). Dash cancel is usually restricted to jumping attacks.

So for 2C > 5C > jc > j.A, you enter 2C, then enter 5C right after 2C hits, then press up + forward right after 5C hits (don’t wait for 5C to finish its animation), then press A in the air.

Brain-dead Baras (not bras you pervs)

So im f’ing w/ SBCs this morning, trying to step up my exection figure out how the hell to get bara 623C to come out, when i noticed random bara dashes were comming out instead. Now well all know bara dash is not new but how in the hell was getting them w/o using 6+A+B. I was certain this was the only way to bara dash but , whatever, I was incorrect. I turn on the imput display to see if maybe im grazing the A+B by accident or something only to find out that i was inputing dash manually!! Basically , I discovered (and maybe someone else out there) a short cut for easy bara-dashes.

GUARD>63214D>6

I mean this shit was rediculously easy. this could possibly create advantages against safe blockstrings that push back (i.e. vsion: 5c/2c>236a>236c) esp. for chars with little start up on their dashes (ironically, sion). This was always the case w/ bara-dash but now its like ANYBODY can do it for free! (maybe im getting too excited about this  )

**
THEN** while i was messing with that I tripped on something else lol.

Bara-superjump:
GUARD>214D>9

Im not too sure of the benifits behind it if any but its very funny to actually see. One use may be jumping out of low blockstrings and retaliating w/ an opropriate aerial move (i.e. akiha falme or even sexier LEN EX ICE). so you guys mess w/ that and let others know if you come up w/ something usefull.

Lastly

Bara-Backdash:
214D>4

meh, self explainitory. However, I normally do this by doing 21[4]D>A+B being that im not so consistent with the above method ( for some odd reason ). Everything else works just fine.

Good shit ZTB.

I havent been able to be online as much because I am awaiting my internet to get back on at the house, for some strange reason its off…

Chibi are things still on for a MBAC side tourney at NEC??? :lovin:

Fuck yeah MB:AC is going to happen at NEC.

Fantastic!!!

Me the noob will be signing up!!! Be afraid…very afraid!!! Of my noob tactics that is!!!

You use Warc for god’s sake, it’s not hard to n00b with her and still win. ^_~

sbc dash would’ve been good for ciel when her dash clashed.

Nice find Zar.

The finds kinda makes me laugh though, cuz I don’t understand at all how the game recognizes inputs for SBC’s, especially for SBC dash. It’s like 214D input is completely ignored or something, and yet not…

Boy I can’t wait to play you guys in this game at NEC!! How many of you are gonna be up there??

I have no idea, but I don’t care if its just TWO people, I just want to play.

Make sure to budget your time between XI / Tenka / NGBC Geese.

XD

If worse comes to worst, you’ll have to drag him away from the snk games.

Thats between XI, NeoWave, NGBC, Tenka, CVS2, Alpha 3, 3s, Tekken 5, MBAC,HSF2,CFj,GGS lol.

I’ll be a multi-tasking maniac like I am in real life.

I know what you mean, god do I know what you mean.

As of late I’ve cut back because playing so many games just has me sucking in all of them, I need to slowly devote time to each one before I run to the other.

MB : AC comes first though.

;D

A while ago I did tests with the input data turned on to try to figure out how the timing works(trying to get sbc 214c). The results don’t make any sence.

Melty Blood’s command interpertation is really simple, actually.

The interperter does a backtrace from the button press. From the button press, it will look back 12 frames from the button input for the first (really last) valid input. From each valid input, it will then look 12 frames back for the next input in the command (parsing backwards).

Two oddities: The first (and only the first) ‘junk’ input it comes across will reset the timer on input. So you could input 2368A, with each input ten frames apart, and it will work (even though the A and the 6 presses are 20 frames apart). The other abnormality is that the game accepts negative edge on dirctional input only, and only on moves with button presses. This is why you occasionally see random supers in combos: they go 2ABC6C and accidently get 236C instead, because [2]36C is a valid motion. This also means that the game does not accept negative edge on button inputs, so reversals in MB are truely a one-frame affair.

Dipstick…nice to see some Waku Waku 7 love in your acatar…

:lovin:

ZTB it was great catching up with you online, hopefully I can catch u[p with you again!!

I have the best Tessa EVER.

does anyone use len? i cant see
how anyone can possibly beast
with her. shes gotta be bottom tier

Yeah, Len isn’t that good. She used to be somewhat usable in ver.A, but now she’s just…meh. I’m still getting over the fact that I was beasting with Kouma last week. He’s like MB’s version of Silber. Fucking slower than shit, but does ass-loads of damage.
