The matchmaking system in this game is terrible for new players

I’ve been stuck in the same rut.

I went on a 20 win streak my first time in Ranked. I thought I would sail all the way up to Silver but I haven’t even made it to Ultra Bronze yet. It must have just been beginners luck. I don’t know how I was doing so well at first but now everybody I fight is a shark. I ended up reaching out to the top R. Mika player and told him that I needed some advice because I can’t get over 1300 LP (he has 7200). He asked if I wanted to fight so he could see what I do. I fought him a few times in Battle Lounge. He says I need to be more aggressive and mix up more. After that I played a few more ranked games and did slightly better than before so he must be on to something there.

AKA the veterans that went through the same stuff that you’re crying about?

Why are you complaining about the match ups? Play everyone as though they are Daigo; would YOU beat Daigo? Probably not, me neither; but I be after 100 matches with him I’ll be better than I was at the start.

Why are you even bringing up that scrub who lost to Lupe Fiasco?

Because if you can’t beat Daigo; how the fuck are you going to beat Lupe?!

LP Gain is determined by Rank, not point difference.

example:
you’ve got 700 pts
you lose against someone with 999 pts
you lose 65-67 pts.
and
you’ve got 700 pts
you lose against soneone with 1001 pts
you lose 35-37 pts.

The pts difference is almost the same, but you once lost against a bronze league player (same league) and the other time against a super bronze league player (league above you)

Correct, and also I’d like to reflect this back at you. Losing is just a result of your skill needing more work, and is the main way that you’ll become a stronger player. If a player gives up from losing a bit more than they are winning, that player won’t contribute to the FG community.

Apparently this is so demotivational to some players that Blizzard took away the amount of cumulative losses from the player info screen in SC2, showing only wins.

Personally, I only get pissed off if I lose to someone who I can clearly see being an inferior player to myself, and I lose because of my own playing mistakes or because of my failure to play effectively under rollbacks/input delay.
