Patience is the big one for Jill. She’s a rushdown monster, but she has tools that can make her really obnoxious to rush down herself. Wait for that opening, grab their throat, and don’t let go.
Hi all. I wanna buy Jill but I gotta know certain things about her first. From what I know (please correct me if i’m wrong), she’s a mixup monster who has a safe way to get in (MGS Super) and is assist dependent to get things going her way.
What I need to know is
a) does she feel like she has enough speed to make her mobile? how easy is it to maneuver around the screen?
b) how are her buttons? are they comparable to someone else?
c) if she fails a mixup can she follow up with another one without assists?
feel free to add anything. thanks!
She is a mixup monster (possibly the best in the game) but getting in against zoning can be tough for her. MGS rly isnt a good way to get in imo and should just be used as a last resort (or maybe with certain assists), problem with MGS is that on hit it doesnt rly lead to anything or even do decent damage without burning more meter or XF, and on block its -7 IIRC so if you’re too close you can get punished and if not then they still have a head start to get something going.
a) She’s very fast but her mobility is limited to the ground and leaves her vulnerable, she has absolutely no options in the air except for her knee drop (which can get you in some rly bad situations because of its extremely small hitbox). Her command dash is amazing for mixups but still isnt the best tool for getting around zoning, you have to go through a minimum of 19 (vulnerable) start up frames before the dash so you have to be covered by an assist to use it safely.
b) dont rly understand the question, if you’re talking about her commands and execution then i feel like she’s kind of a mix between viper and she hulk, you use 22S a lot like she hulk (a lot more actually) and have to rely on canceling specials + good timing (kinda) like viper. Dont know how else i can put it because jill isnt similar to most characters.
c) Yes definitely, like most of jill’s combos start with LMH xx FC > somersault, if you’re opponent blocks then instead of somersault you can just use her command dash and repeat until you get a hit, if they dont pushblock then you can pretty much do anything like go high, cross up low/high or command grab, if they pushblock i dont think you can do cross ups but the other options are still there.
thanks. what I meant in the second question is how powerful are her buttons from a scale of 1 - 10. 10 being zero’s and 1 being modoks st.A.
ahh you mean her normals, they’re not bad but there’s nothing special about them, i would give her like a 6 or 7 / 10. They’re relatively fast and have good hitstun (especially her air normals) but thats about it.
Hello all! I just bought Jill yesterday (I know, I’m on the cutting edge, right?) and LOVE her tools! I’m looking for her to be a possible point on xxx Hawkeye Doom-b, but am willing to be flexible on Doom if there’s significanly better support for Jill. A few questions, the first addressing exactly that (they look long text-wise, but they’re quick-n-easy, I just elaborate a little):
1 . Are there any established “best friend” assists for her? I want to say drones suggest themselves for mixup, but I can’t (yet) see a good way for her to reliably protect a drone call. Even calling drones and then immediately teleporting to the other side still gives them a small window to pop Sent. Missiles almost seem good in theory, except chicken blocking could screw that up since you can’t air throw someone blocking missiles. Eye of Agamato seems decent, like, post combo for a quick teleport-through crossup. Cold Star could lock them nicely for a hi-lo. And I won’t play a team without Hawkeye, so arrows are great for Jill because they have to be I dunno, I’ll shut up and let the experts talk.

Who are some good Jill players and can anyone steer me towards footage of them? I feel like seeing a good one in action would prob answer a lot of my questions. I know there’s a good one who plays at Armshouse, but I don’t remember his name and skipping around through archived tourn vids would be a pain in the ass (I’ll do it though if that’s what it takes). And then there’s Clockwork, but that leads to my next question…
-
Is she close enough to her vanilla incarnation that watching Clockwork or possibly other strong Jills would be teaching me obsolete stuff? Or is it basically the same ideas and therefore good for picking up ideas?

Are the combos in the Brady guide ones I should be doing? I’m not asking anyone to type out alternatives, just a Y/N is fine, maybe with a possible “why” if the answer is no. For some characters Brady ends up spot on, for others they’re proven 2nd or 3rd best after the first week.
Thanks, all!
Are you on PSN… dood?
No idea who you’re asking, but since I was the last to post before you asked, I’ll answer. No, just XBL. Sorry if I wasnt ur intended inquiree.
Ah ok, if you had PSN, we could totally get some Jill mirrors… dood!
Jsoledout1. I’ll teach ya the basics and onward.
Not sure where to ask but will Jill/Shuma ever go on sale? I still haven’t bought them. I’m on xbox btw.
No I don’t believe so? If you want them then get them lol.
Question, I was practicing my BnB’s cause i just picked up Jill, so i was training against Dr. Strange, and her somersault from her QCF. L doesn’t connect. Any reason why.
The question being asked is slightly confusing. What bnb were you doing?
maybe he’s doing flip kick xx FC > somersault instead of going straight into somersault?
L.M.H -> QCF.L -> Somersault. It whiff’s on Dr. Strange and some other characters.
I know this sound mean but the solution is simple… don’t do that combo.
Do the standard BnB - A,B,C,22S~C,~~~
We have BnB’s for a reason.
If you add :d::h: then:b::h: before the:qcf::l:, the Somersault will connect. It should work on all characters if I remember correctly… dood!
He may not understand @@S FlyingVe, lol those caps. D,D+S to feral crouch cancel the QCF+L, which is imputed after the QCF+L. Then you can somersault on all characters after the cancel. I agree with FlyingVe on Bnb’s. Especially since FlyingVe, Pulsr, and Neo Artisan Have good ones.
so in the corner if you cartwheel kick and then command dash cross up into sH the speed at which you feral cancel into dash determines whether or not you actually cross up. i feel like this should lead to a cheeky reset.
