The Master of DLC Unlocking -The Jill Valentine Thread

With the addition of Jill (replaced Wolverine, I use them as similar styles) to my Dante and Sent (finally broke down and added him to my team replacing Hulk) I graduated from pure unadulterated ass to kinda ass/mini scrub. Im really liking her style. That teleport is awesome against zoners right now since noone knows jil too.

Soliek, would someone give me an example of a combo you can do into dhc with morrigan for the damage reset?

I tried a basic corner combo of j.mmhs *2, s.m, cr.m, cr.h, back h, qcf.c, j.s, j.mmhs, s.m, s.h, back h xx qcf.b (or a) xx Kick super (dhc on last hit, tried a few other random hits, and get the same result after this, which is) combo for a hit or two with morrigan (s.h, S), try to air combo, and have it drop between mediums like hitstun is still scaled.

Running Jill/Morrigan/Doom, since Jill seems to be an alright battery, and dhcing into Morrigan is too good if it actually works. Morrigan builds meter via the assist, doom helps zone/pin down with plasma beam, and offers a bulky character to tag in if things aren’t going too hot. Both Doom and Morrigan can zone effectively, and all three characters will likely be able to make use of x factor, as well as meter. Doom and Jill seem to kinda rock at corners, as a bonus.

Maybe I should try running hidden missles on doom. That would make Jill’s already stupid mix-ups that much better. Hrm…

Already figured out a way!

After Feral :m:, if it hits during a combo, it will wallbounce. In the corner, you don’t need anything, but if you’re NOT in the corner, cancel Feral :m: into Feral Teleport :f: and you’ll be in range to launch after the wallbounce :slight_smile:

I hate to sound negative, but after about 7 hours playing with Jill in ranked matches and training mode, she feels kinda unpolished compared to the rest of the cast. She has so many wonky character specific combos and the hitstun deterioration seems exceptionally unkind to her. The hit boxes on a lot of her moves are also very unforgiving.

I’m not saying she sucks or that no one will figure out an optimal way to use her, I’m sure they will. But right now she just seems extremely awkward and time consuming to learn compared to say, magneto or x-23 two characters with similar health and similar-ish goals. I really hope someone figures something out.

personally, i think this character is busted as hell and i look forward to all incoming hatemail coming my way in the future

The fact u can cancel her F+H overhead into a crossup overhead teleport while calling an assist is stupid as fuck lol

500k damage

C. L, C. M, S. H, xxx QCF + M, Feral Light Attack xxx QCF + L, Feral Light Attack, S ^ J. M, J. M, J. H, J. S (land) QCF + Light

Nearly 400k damage.

You guys probably already know this, but somersault kick is jump cancellable, but it hardly seems worth to use it at times because jill has a hard time relaunching people at max range.

Glad to see you, gsxtacy, we need more SSFIV Cammy players here! And yeah, her mixup game seems completely broken so far. Love it. The whole fact that she can cancel her Arrow Kick that covers good 65% of the screen into Feral Crouch that leaves her on good +10 frame advantage is really scary.

Can she cancel all of her specials into feral crouch?

Goddamit people know bout the Cancel alrdy…though only so few who talked bout it, like for real like i only saw 3 posts (maybe there’s more). anyways, i didnt find any vids for Feral crouch cancel (if that the name, right? ) so i made this vid for feral crouch cancel BNB’s . To be honest those are by far her most damaging BNB that i see compared to her other stuff (i think to be honest)…a simple damaging combos

You have to be really careful with your joystick with Jill or you never know where on the screen you’re gonna end up.

Relax, man, it’s hard to be first to discover something on SRK, especially if it is mentioned in the guide. By the way, your vid isn’t scrubby at all, that combo with Wesker was sick.

All QCF and Feral Crouch moves. Works with normals and dashes too.

Even the guide tells you a really stupid mix-up she has:

… s.h, fc forward dash srk.h

And if they’re a jumper, tp and j.s/grab them instead of going for the ground grab.

Even without assists, she’s looking too good at mix-ups. Once I can get the DHC working, she’s gonna replace x-23 on all 'cept my anti-phoenix.

Then again, level 3 XF Jill Mad Beast vs d. phoenix may be too much fun.

I wish I could combo in Mad Beast mode. That dash. :frowning:

Just saw the day one Jill combo video. Why are people trying to end their launcher combos with Machine Gun Spray? From what I’ve seen, the damage output is not worth the meter when DP+:l: does more.

I understand that, but I was under the impression that the video was about what Jill can do with assists as backup, not about DHC-ing into others.

sorry for the double post but according to jwong’s twitter
he won’t be able to use jill and shuma tonight(they’re just way too difficult for him to use tonight)
so instead he’ll just be using trish storm chun li and informs everyone that his scrub team shuma and jill are still in the lab
