The Master of DLC Unlocking -The Jill Valentine Thread

Yeah, just sounds odd. But if it gives her a whole different moveset and properties I’m cool with that.

Not like we’re getting mvc2 jill anyways.

I want her normal moveset to be similar. Slide OTG Launch all day.

I mean, don’t we all get new moves when we “get low”? :stuck_out_tongue:
and true, I couldn’t do much with mvc2 jill, but she was very fun to play.

i love when jill scrubs try to use that one too many times and eat psylocke assist XD

I love when people think I’m a Jill scrub, fall for the bait and get their psylocke peace’d out when they get double snapped XD

I don’t know if it is necessarily an execution barrier, more of a mental barrier. Like I learn the character it one stance, and not the other or I forget to use the other stances or use them at the wrong time.

Definitely going to put some time into fixing those problems for Jill though if this is true.

too bad i dont really see any defining moves from the crouch position except that awesome flip throw she does.

lol…NEVER play Soul Calibur. EVERYONE has a stance in that game .

Its really not that complicated when you think bout it…look at what options you have, if you need to do something outside of the stance youre currently in…switch. stance for speed, stance for mindgames, stance to be an asshole.

Stancing is fun in 3d fighters, not so much in 2d.

if you do that then youre not a jill scrub LOL

95% of online jills are slidekick, slidekick, call iceman beam, slidekick. they dont know how to catch a jumping opponent into the hyper. when i see those kind of jills, its free wins. ill savor it sometimes, hypergrav snap them out and kill the other two assists first. if its a good jill then that can be annoying D=

I love Jill in MvC2 even though I suck at that game and especially with Jill. Does that me a Jill scrub? Or just a scrub in general? Haha!

Oh, I remember when I was shaking with rage after Project Soul messed with Ivy again. She’s already one of the harder characters to play as, and in SCIV they made her even harder by changing almost everything she had before. Took me a good month to adapt, but it was totally worth it in the end.

Yeah, I understand. Think this way, you get access to more moves, not bad, right? The only real problem, is not having all the specials/normals available at the same time. Using Ivy as an example, she has three primary stances, plus one additional (it has less moves than the rest) stance she can access from all three. Naturally, there are many situations when you need a move that requires a stance switch. That means, you have to work hard on your defence and use every opportunity you get to switch your stance.

how many 2d games have successfully utilized stances?

Does Zappa from Guilty Gear count as a “stance” character? Or Gen in Street Fighter?

Gen sure would, can’t believe i forgot him.

Hell mecha-gief would too, or even mvc1 ryu

Besides the ones Jocelot mentioned: TvC Megaman (arms), KOF Jhun Hoon, JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure cast (if they count). EDIT: How could I forget about Ammy in MvC3 lol?

Technically speaking SC4 Ivy is probably the second best incarnation of Ivy in the 4 games shes been in. Damage potential and throw mixups out the ass, but her stance switching is slow, sword stance is her best stance and she doesnt have many good low options.

Ivy was my main character SC1 through SC3. I dont even recognize her in 4, so I had to let her go. Not to mention the new command for her command throws, how fucking stupid.

Now im team Xianghua.

I agree, though SC2 Ivy was kinda retarded.

It wasn’t even the command that pissed me off, it was the reduced buffer window. I’m surprised I didn’t drop her eventually, like I did in SC3, I almost made a switch to Cassandra. Why don’t Project Soul mess around with Mitsurugi like this for a change?
/[Soul Calibur]

So this new “leaker” claims Jill doesn’t have a theme, but then again he says that “A zombified Storm and Black Panther appear in Chris Redfield’s ending”. At least his trolling is kinda amusing.

Actually Project Soul did mess around with Mitsurugi between SC3 and 4. Not to the same extreme but I lost a good chunk of my BnB between 3 and 4.

I always liked the concept of Stances. It really depends on how it’s executed though.Should be interesting to see what’s up with Jill.

Well they make all the characters fresh each game which is good, but they actually CHANGED Ivy 4 times the last 4 games shes had completely different movelists.

SC 4 being the most drastic.

Its like Capacom making Ryu’s fireballs the Raging Demon motion. WHY.

Just an update, that guy on the twitter that said Jill didn’t have an ending and had a different stance admitted to lying basically to teach people a lesson not to trust leaks lol.
