The Marshall Law Thread

Hmm, I think it’s the issue with close s.LP and far s.LP. That might be why you can’t go into the string.

That is the issue. thank you.

I’m looking to buy SFxT eventually however i’m torn between this and Mass Effect 3 atm. Depending on my choice I’ll buy one of them, i’m slightly leaning towards SFxT though. I will say though Law has always been my Tekken main and my first fighting game main ever (My first Fighting game and video game that I can remember was Tekken 3 and I played Law from the start). When I do get SFxT (either this week or way far down the line) i’ll be looking to play Law. He looks fun and i’m really hyped to play him.

I was planning to pair with him Akuma, does it not matter who you pair together in this game or are there optimal partners?

I was having a very similar dilemma, but I decided on SFxT. I didn’t care for the way ME3 played in the demo. As far as the pairing goes: experiment. While there will be some combinations that work well together, you might find one that works very well for you. If you’re deadset on using Law, I’d just choose 3-4 other characters and rotate through them to see how you like the different combinations.

I just finished play Maximillian it was a fun match… I hope I get on online warrior but the only thing is is that I was playing my brothers gamertag, still look for chaosfordummies!

im loving law as of now! he’s soo beast, my fav of the tekken cast so far been playing him since last friday! my fav combo to do so far is j.hk cr.mp cr.mp ex Shaolin Spin Kicks j.hk s.hp xx dragon charge xx dragon knuckle xx delayed dragon tail. for 1 meter it does 455 damage.

a variant of that is easiar is j.hk cr.mp cr.mp ex Shaolin Spin Kicks j.hk s.hp xx shaolin spin kicks 445 damage.

with gems activated im pretty sure it does way more

now my question is would you play law on point or secondary?

I would use him on point. His punishment is good and he has moves that punt the other guy straight into the corner through Shaolin kicks, HP Fury Fist. All his moves put him forward in one direction. There’s no stepping back lol.

But if you are facing some super safe pressure characters that can zone him out very effectively, I would use him secondary and pick someone to open up the knockdowns for Law to get in and just finish them off with tag cancels and stuff. Once you knock them down, Law can be very mobile with his fists and dashing. He’s got maybe average or slightly above average walk speed but his dash is quick. You can basically get across the screen in two or three back fists. Slide, shin buster, Shaolin kick in.

I am thinking of using him on point as well. I’m not quite sure how well he’ll deal with fireballs though. He seems like he could possibly be a good meter builder who can also dish out damage.

df.MK slides under most fireballs, won’t get past Sagat’s.

Dragon Charge into Tail goes past fireballs easily but it is kind of a slow move and you need to anticipate it a few frames ahead since there are a few frames where he needs to animate and scream for Dragon Charge. It’s also pretty unsafe on block so you need a clean hit.

currently im testing out chun li on point with law secondary, have chun around to poke and build meter. with meter building gems. and law with straight up power gems. i have a power gem that activates for law when chun performs a launcher. and with more damaging variant of the combo i poster earlier j.hk s.hp ex Shaolin Spin Kicks j.hk s.hp xx dragon charge xx dragon knuckle xx delayed dragon tail. normal it does 485 damage with a power gem 500 plus!.. not bad for 1 meter. especially jump ins are lot safer in this game compared to ssf4.

any good tag in combos with law. ive been using s.lp b.mp b.mp b.mp somersault kick

When tagging in Law I usually use b.MP LK MK, c.HP Somersault Kick

It’s gotten me the most damage so far.

Just whipped this up fresh from the kitchen.

great stuff and on day 1 wow. Liking Law. Can’t wait for Lei

From my limited experience with the game so far, it seems like sagat Cr.fp > Law and akuma and any other dive kicks just wreck his shop
besides jumping away and ex flip kick (which doesn’t really help the situation) I haven’t found anything to consistently anti air yet.

I was just about to post a question about anti-air’s. I’m having problems with people applying jump in pressure constantly. Law’s air-to-air seems weak except for maybe jump short. I’m getting eaten alive by constant block strings to crossups and every button I try seems to be losing.

Anyone find any good pressure strings? High low mixups don’t seem to be very good as toward + mp isn’t safe on block.

Edit: I should it’s more like people doing block string, crossup attempt, block string, crossup attempt, it’s tough to deal with(at least online, haven’t done offline matches yet) and eventually I make a mistake blocking especially with high low mixups. I also got destroyed by a raven that kept doing projectile, teleport, stand jab pressure. It seems impossible to reverse the pressure without an ex somersault available or to spend meter on a counter.

The best way to deal with block strings into cross up attempts honestly is to guess an early jump back RH or slide.

A little bit of nifty tech I’ve been applying the past couple days is good whiff punishers. If people whiff long recovery normals from a “safe” range you can punish accordingly with b. MP>MP string. You get the ground bounce off of it and it combos into itself while still allowing for a HCB+P follow up. Getting 250ish damage for free off a mid screen whiff punish is pretty nice if you ask me.

niice stuff man, keep it up with that technology, glad im on the right track with law with his combos …was doing similar stuff from the video in training room the last two days. i just wish damage scaling wasnt so harsh in this game
