The Marshall Law Thread

Slayerslice yeah, I work at Capcom Europe and we have the game. I asked about talking about SFXT online and I was told I could discuss anything that is already unveiled and past embargo dates. I’ve probably put in 80 hours into this game so I know the charactres I play pretty well, and the ones my colleagues use. So I’m familiar with Law, Paul, Kuma, Juri, Asuka, Marduk, Steve, Ryu, Ken, Paul, Chun, Cole and Hugo. Everyone else I’ve just used a bit in training or casuals but not really got the ins and outs with.

Law is sick, that flying kick is like EX lunge with AE Yun but for free.

Thanks for all that information Electrifying, it is some really nice insider knowledge for the community. Law will definitely be my character

Which one Law or Fei? (either way i don’t get it but i’d still like to know your reasons)

Word for Capcom Europe? Have some question for you and no they are not character reveals
since you can’t do cross rush into regular speciasl anymore can you do :lp::mp: special or :mp::hp: special? Technically it’s not cross rush
Convince the dev team to make cross assault player controlled again. Meaning no cpu assistant
How many floor bounces are allowed?
How many Wall bounces are allowed?
Your Opinion on the top5 character on each side? If they haven’t been announced just say unannounced

I can answer some of your questions melf. The Wall bounce limit is 2. The ground bounce limit is either 2 or 3, though I’m pretty sure it’s 2 as well. Obviously I can’t answer the last one.

ElectrifyingOne, would you mind giving us at the Juri thread a little info on what she’s now capable of, not involving her Cross Art since that still hasn’t been shown?

Can you make another breakdown for Paul? I liked your Law post

Can you please bless the Asuka thread with some information!

Can you please give us some Paul info? Pretty please? You can’t give us Marshall info without also addressing his truest friend. I do appreciate the fact that you told us about his phantom cross up j.mk but we’d all like to know more. Is he any good?

Hi guys, yes I’ll try to put something in the other threads.

Ground bounce limit is at least 3- Kazuya can do his qcb+LP move at least threee times in the corner.

I swear though the system limits for juggles and bounces doesn’t seem consistent. for example Nina can do c.MK xxqcb+K for a launch, then repeat and after the second launch anything you do whiffs. Law on the other hand seems to be able to get three reps, (or ‘actions’ as I call them with each normal xx special being 1 action) in theory after any tag you get 1 action, but Law can do cMP xx qcf+HK, cMP xx qcb+K after a tag. I think this may be to do with the juggle not involving a launch as such, more a case of Law recovering before they do.

There also seems to be unusual rules regarding wall bounce combos, I hardly ever use them as they seem impossible to follow up if your combo is already more than 5 or 6 hits.

tiers are really really hard to say because we aren’t using all the cast and we’re only a small group of players. Even a larger group of world class players could get it very wrong. That said, I’ve seen and played enough to think 1st hand that Law, Juri and Chun are excellent. In theory (this is based on conjecture and what I’ve seen in training mode and instinct from 20+ years of fighting games) I’d say Kazuya, Ling and Heihachi.

Of the characters I have a decent amount of 1st hand experience with I’m pretty sure Kuma and Marduk are the worst and low tier overall- Marduk especially suffers from low optimum damage and not enough utility for his moves (he has 3 specials and they are all throws or throw-type moves that don’t even hurt really and some of his EX moves are a total waste of meter. Kuma has some redeeming qualities like good target combo, lots of moves and some good damage but just gets jumped all over and is the classic big slow punching bag. In theory (Again not seen enough of these guys to say for sure) I can’t see the bosses and a lot of the SFIV cast being that good as the dont seem built for this game or with enough new tools to deal with the long pressure/deal their own. Probably wrong about this. Shotos seem pretty good, Ryu will probably get that mid/high slot he loves so much. Rufus seems weak, Cammy seems the best SF character alongside Chun, Gief and Hugo are better than all the Tekken grappler types and overall I’d probably say Hugo is the best grappler. Poison is excellent for noobs, like a female Ken. Paul seems amazing at first but once you learn his high low mix up game he’s less scary.

Oh no Rufus is weak? Do you mean he has bad damage out put or just plain sucks? If so can you elaborate? He’s who I’m maining in this game no matter what. Also if it isn’t too much trouble, a little elaboration on Paul would be nice.

Cool info bro :D, not to be an ass you missed one qeustion.
Can you chain two attacks into special? example :lp::mp: special or :mp::hp: into special? Techinically they don’t count as cross rush so we should be able to cancel that.
I just added this question, please for the love of everything good tell us how damage scaling works.
Since you have access to training mode you should see how it work.

no, as soon as you start chaining your normals you can only cancel them into EX/supers. So Juri can do crouch lk,lk, mk xx EX pin wheel but NOT regular pin wheel.

Honestly from what I’ve seen if you’re playing a good team to their full capability you aren’t ever going to be doing cross rush as you have better options. I only ever use it for a safe tag if I have no meter and my character is~50% or below

Uh Oh,

You’re going with team “Fast Fat Fucks” also? I cant wait beat people with a barrage of acrobatic lard.

All I need now is Fei Long and Dudley and I can have team Bruce Lee, and just Balrog & Dudley.

Uhhhh no. I’ve pretty much decided on Rufus/Paul. Best in America and Best in the Universe. I’ll dub the team “Best of Both Worlds”. They also both bikers and they also have history at Marshall’s diner since Rufus trashed it in the trailer.

People always assume because I’m gonna use Rufus I’ll also use Bob but no one considers that maybe I don’t want to use boring ass characters with zero personality. The only thing Bob has “going” for him is being fat, not interesting at all. Rufus and Paul on the other hand will kick ass as a team.

^adding to the generic of nature of Bob, his name is effin’ Bob… talk about generic and dull

Personally I’m looking to playing Law and Rufus with Law being the obvious Bruce Lee clone, and Rufus the fat martial artists who can’t be taken seriously. Can’t say I have a good team name here, but it is a fun combo with plenty of clashing aspects

Kung Fat?

Kung Food. References an online title Rufus has in SSF4 and his fatness. It also references food which is Law’s passion and Kung Fu which they both practice.

Yeah, that one’s a lot better.

Like the sound of Kung Food a lot actually

So, out of curiousity, do you use, say, links more often in standard combos? Or are there target combos or series that are cancellable?

On topic, I can’t wait for another game of top tier Law. Hopefully Bob is up there too so we can have a repeat of Evo 2011 Tekken 6
