Yeah a lot of popular SF chars are huge zoners and Law’s gonna need a lot of patience. lol
Though Dragon Flight goes through fireballs I haven’t had a hard time closing in, of course though on block its a bad decision.
I play law like charge character, in other words my best offense is a great defense. The 1 blessing law has is his b.mp target combo which is safe if you don’t finish it off with the launcher. I’m also getting into the habit of buffering his qcf+k during pressure strings cause opponents usually jump towards you after they finish a block string.
I got a question though, when your in close what’s a reliable normal that will beat out other normals?
Is it just crouching short and jab or would standing jab and mk also work?
Zoning doesn’t have to be unique to fireballs. Good limbs and normal ranges are pretty rough. Rolento comes to mind.
Hey everyone! I’ve been fooling around with Law since the game came out. I was running Chun and Juri as my mains but the team just isn’t meshing with me so I’m going to be running Chun and Law instead. I was curious if anyone else here is running that team; maybe we could practice?
I was also curious what you guys may be looking for in how you get in and start doing work, game plan wise.
I’m off to the combo thread to continue soaking that good stuff up.
Personally I’m still torn. Kazuya seems to be a better character than Law, better walk speed, higher damage, the only thing keeping me on Law right now is his ability to be a great tagger which I think is important (so far anyway).
I’ve decided I have to have Sagat locked. Decent damage, good zoning, decent wake up, st.lk God like at hit confirming into chains, big meter building. Other reasons being Rolento and Rufus look like horse shit to deal with at the minute and I need that back up Sagat provides. (Ryu is probably better, but I’m a Sagat man)
One thing I’ve noticed in common with all the Tekken sub forums is combo’s and way’s of getting in are not realistic, everything starts with - J.HK, J.HP , I think playing the character should come before high damage combo’s but I guess we are only a week old.
I’ve been trying to keep it basic with law and almost play him like Fei, hit confirm some jabs into special then use his j-mk/lk to run some wake up games.
Still undecided. I’ll stick for now and alt him. If you guys are looking for a Fei like character, I recommend Poison. Good normal’s, good zoning, rekka, but better walk speed, I think her cr-hp seems like a decent AA also plus she has a DP. Cr.mk into rekka is awesome it feels cheeky!. She has barely any tag potential though… So many decisions to be made!!!
thats my main team since day 0 (had the game early) if your on psn send me an add. with chun on point its easy to get in with her amazing footsi. have law as anchor and dont let up with the pressure.
I wish law had at least 1 good AA normal!
Why couldn’t his standing HP serve as a AA instead of a useless swipe that covers no ground:(
I’m a bit ashamed to admit this, but last friday i kinda gave up on Law after getting frustrated. But today i said forget that! I like this character too much to quit on him so fast.
Meh, i’m forever a Law loyalist, I love the character way too much to drop him no matter what
That and I play SFxT mostly for fun since UMVC3 is my main game.
you cant quit law, law’s combos have too much swag!! he;s too much fun. if anything it doesnt hurt to have a pocket character for the bad match ups down the line. thats what im doing.
Law’s frame traps are so good. I love it. Everyone falls for them. Also, shotos try and punish FFR and give me free combos, it’s great. His back mp, lk string is really good for pressure. I usually do it after 2 blocked cr.mps. Then if they block that, I’ll throw out another cr.mp, rinse repeat. It’s hard to get out of Law pressure it seems. Having no AA is really bad, though. I feel so free against Rufus, Juri, and a few more characters.
Kara df+short, hcb+p, f+p is one of the dirtiest things I have ever seen
I’m rank #7 on the xbl leaderboards using law on point and ryu on second!
Can someone help me understand frame traps? I’m a marvel player so frame traps are not exactly necessary. The guide says that you can use cr.LP after left right combo for a frame trap because left right combo is -1. It also said that if the opponent tries to do anything but block or an invulnerable reversal, they will get hit. If my opponent had a 3 or 4 frame jab wouldn’t they beat my cr.LP? I always thought to frame trap someone your attack had to have advantage on block.
Dang, unfortunately I’m on XBL.
Mind if I ask what some of your set ups are off of Chun’s Cross Rush? I’ve been using Law’s B + Mp, Mp, Cr. Hp xx Shoalin Kicks – If I can I switch cancel Chun back in. I’m going to get my nose back in the combo thread and see what else Law can do coming in from tags.
I’m having a difficult time brining Chun in off of Law’s wall bounce moves. Maybe a timing thing on my end but it seems Chun runs under the opponent any insight?
It’s the shoto!
agreed, ryu covers law weaknesses… it doesnt hurt that hes pretty much s tier in this game
i have a few but the most damaging non metter one i think is b.mp mp cr.hp dragon stance, knuckle, kick.
but i u can do b.mp mp, b.mp lk mk shoalin kick, and tag cancel again if needed.
as for chun tagging in ive been doing that justin wong combo, i believe its bmk mk , jump cancel into stomps, follow by target combo.
I wouldn’t say S tier but he has a 3 frame jab and it’s good to use after blocking Law’s attacks since it’s fast and it’s good for him to hit confirm or push you out.
This is a very jab oriented and dominated game like SF4 also. That’s not to say it’ll blow up all of Law’s moves, Law’s moves cover good horizontal space. They just have to be used different. I have some ideas I want to try out with him later as I play more of the game against live players but hey, if a few people are making Law work for them on point, so can we.
