Sorcerous Spyglass I have already tested in a Legacy shell and it might be the real deal in the right deck. I tried it in a odd built Solider stompy 8 sol land deck and it was a lot better than I thought and felt superior to Suppression Field.
Uh, no it isnât. If you wanted to raise that charge at any of the cards I mentioned, then doing so against either Lilianaâs Defeat or Revel in Riches would make far more sense.
As for Hostage Taker, I said absolutely nothing about its level of power. I said that it needs to be banned or errataâd because it is literally mechanically broken, which has jack and shit to do with âoverratedâ. It could be the worst creature since Wood Elemental; that doesnât matter if it prevents the game from being played once itâs cast, and so easily at that.
Unless, of course, you think WotC totally meant for it be able toâhell, to have to in some instancesâtarget itself infinitely and force the game into a draw despite the fact theyâve worked out wording that doesnât literally break the game over at least a decade ago as Faceless Butcher clearly shows. Even Felidar Sovereign didnât have this self-targeting problem and given what a clear fuck-up the wording on that card was from the get-go, if only due to Saheeli a.k.a. the card should have actually been banned from Standard, I donât see what youâre arguing here and will kindly assume you just misread.
(That said, yes, Sorcerous Spyglass looks pretty damn good if real, especially both since it even gets past effects that give players hexproof (or shroud) like Leyline of Sanctity and because the game has needed another colorless (non-creature) Pithing Needle-like effect that can target planeswalkers for quite a while.)
Reprint Tundra right but call it Frosty Fields or some shit and make it do the exact same thing but have it say, âMay not be used in the same deck as Tundra.â
Players with the originals can still run them, reserve list stays intact but the paywall of not being able to afford essential lands goes away.
If there was a good way to go at this it would of been done by now.
Those lands would also reach the highest of value for a rare in a normal set in a very long time and even worse if you make them mythics. Wizards does not want to make $50 rares but those could reach $50 for the U cycle if not more. I have only made money playing Legacy because my cards only go up most of the time. All the duels and sol lands I have I know are safe and are likely to go up before they go down.
I do think a land cycle like this would be suffice and good for Legacy:
Lava Grove
Land - Forest/Mountain/Special Land cycle name
Lava Grove comes into play untapped if you control no other cards with âspecial land cycle nameâ if you do it comes into play tapped.
Tap: Add G or R
That would work and help Legacy to reduce cost by allowing people to play 1 less Underground Sea or Tundra but I could see that kind of land being WAY to good in Modern and they seem terrible for Standard which WOTC would not do.
itâs super fun to play with, not against. come on, this deck is so different than anything in modern/standard. Also, as a fun fact, in the match i lost against delver i was stifled 3 times. i was like, serious dude ?
They could print my idea in a Commander set and while it would violate the spirit it would ultimately help the format. It might make people mad but Legacy has shrunk to the point itâs near dead. Itâs practically become vintage and the number one reason is the reserve list, in particular lands.
Iâm just looking forward to the cats. If there was ever a moment that I wanted to build a casual deck, or something to lend out to a new person for fun, it would be now.
(A lot of people are thinking that Djeru, a new planeswalker, will be in the Green/White mythic slot a Legendary cat would be likeliest to take up. So either there is no legendary Cat card despite the support that Amonkhet block already hasâOketra doesnât countâor itâs not mythic and/or Green/White if the Djeru thing is true. Not sure I have feelings either way.
EDIT: Nevermind. Either Djeru isnât a Planeswalker like I thoughtânot that Iâve read the story due to âew, Gatewatchââand only Samut is, which seems like itâs likely the case, or heâs getting both a creature card and a planeswalker card in this set, which seems unlikely: http://mythicspoiler.com/hou/cards/djeruthepurified.html. Either way, Legendary Green/White Cat Lord (that isnât Ajani) just got more likely I guessâŚunless it is Ajani (again), which would be amusing; we havenât had creature Ajani yet though I guess.)
Anyway, it looks like they saved the best Amonkhet God for last, at least as far as effects in Standard go:
About the worst things that I can say about the card is that itâs stretching out Standard Zombies into yet another color (without being the Esper Zombie lord a bunch of people are apparently clamoring for), which sort of fucks over Black & White Zombies even more, and that its headâs orientation looks a bit silly and somewhat like a tick because of it. Still, those are minor things and at least the art isnât as hilariously awkward as Hour of Back-Massage Turned Horribly Wrong:
I really have to wonder what the art directions were for that card. Oh well. At least itâs maindeckable unlike Deicide, which wasnât despite Thassa being in a Tier 1 deck for a lot of the time that Deicide was around.
I really hope the red âlast cycleâ card is amazing. I want RR for 5-6 damage or RRR for 7-8 damage. Its the one that could be legacy playable or a .25 cent rare.
Eh I kind of wish the R/U god was a bit better, like it almost looks good enough to play but I ainât quite sure dropping a 4/4 for 6 on my own turn is what Iâd want to do in the control shell it would need, especially when itâs competing as a wincon with drakehaven tokens, that 3 drop r/u drake and gearhulk.
True, but in Legacy itâs just another one in a long line of prison decks. People hate on Standard where almost every deck is at least partly creature-based aggro but legacy has a similar problem in that most decks are prison hybrids.
