Edit: Mapquest tells me that it will be over 200 miles and about 4.5 hours on the road. Assuming I were to come to this, would it be a single night of SF before I head home? Or will there be casuals somewhere for the rest of the weekend and a (preferably free) place for me to sleep?

all day and night saturday (tourney) and the actual tournment never ran past 11pm so it wont run late.
If people dont mind housing you sunday then your set there (and we are usually pretty good with that).
locally GG gets between 20 and 30 people, st gets around 10 to 15, cvs got only 8 last time but i think it is usually higher, and 3s gets at least 15 i think. Anything else is usually low.
Of course with this one hopefuly being a major or “major like” we can bring in a lot more people.
Actually, 3S is more in the range of 30+ for local tournaments. CvS is usually around 16. So is ST.
the venue has a lockin starting at 9 pm the day before the actual tournament. We run casuals(3s, Cvs2, MvC2), chicken matches, and poker. Just make sure to bring a blanket and pillow, not much carpeting at the venue.
Yeah just sleep at the lock-in, that’s what I always do. Costs like $8 for the whole night of gaming and sleeping.

OK, so how does this work? Everyone puts in a particular amount of cash for the chicken, and then pieces are wagered/raised? All this time I thought this was either a joke or a one time thing…that’s pretty hilarious and awesome all at the same time.

Devil Jin and I had the first one, as far as I know.
We ran 3/5 in 3S and CvS2, with MvC2 as the tie-breaker.
DJ won 3S 3-0, I won CvS2 3-0, so we ran Marvel and I won 3-0
I got a combo from Popeye’s.
Now we do Team Chicken Matches
We do Round Robin in 3S, CvS2 and Marvel
Whichever team has the most total wins, wins a big-ass bucket of chicken.
Individual piece bets would be interesting though…

yeah pats team chicken match idea is gdlk. it revolutionized the whole chicken match and made it great. so great everyone wants in on it. if all people were gdlk like god.
