I mean, she was doing 87 in a 70 mph. That’s pushing reckless driving speed. And if she was a grad student staying in the states, then she probably should have gotten a US driver’s license. I know in most states it is required to get a US license if you are a resident for a year.
Yea… Doesn’t mean you can make up laws saying a Canadian license is not allowed and you are basically driving without a license.
20 over is wreckless speeding and no domestic license? Its probably different for a student, especially one from canada, but i know if you are working you need to have a domestic license…or at least you used to. My Grandfather got bopped on that one.
Arresting her sounds like the proper call there, she was speeding quite a bit and had no legit papers on her aside from said foreign license. Ive never been to collage and yet i know pictures on my phone isn’t going to cut it so why didn’t she? I live in a student focused apartment complex and its just fucking stunning to me how these people got into collage but so are so fucking dumb. Kind of feel the same way about this girl. You are in a foreign country, carry your paperwork with you, like jesus, foreign travel 101.
I agree. But what I’m saying is an IDP is required after a year. If that girl just finished her MA in Tennessee, chances are she might have been in the US longer than a year, in which case her Canadian DL would no longer be valid. The article didn’t go that far, instead it focused on the poor little girl who was so scared she made a snapchat video of herself fake crying in the back of a cop car. I hate driving with aggressive drivers going nearly 20 mph over the sped limit, putting my life in danger.
Normally I hate the fucking police here. I get extremely angry over their abuse of power. This case seems pretty benign, and a little petty to be honest. Hopefully the student won’t drive so recklessly in the future.
I will say that having to pay $800+ bail and $200 impound fees is god damned ridiculous.

Yea I’ll say this much… She would have had her license suspended if she was going 140 in a 110 zone here.
I kinda feel she should consider herself lucky, my brothers license was suspended here in AZ for going 15 over until his court date in which he had to pay a grand in fines, 400 for impound, and had to take 4 weeks of driving school before they would reinstate it.
She had to spend a bit of time in a drunk tank and got to keep her driving privilidges AND the judge dropped everything and is even working to get to her record expunged. After all this she’s demanding more? An apology and reprimand of the officer? Man quit while you are ahead, you fucking won, no record, no charges, get to kewp your license, basically NOTHING happened to you aside from a couple crappy days and some spent money that someone else probably gave her anyway if shes like all the other college students i live around.
