Everyone is so impressed by that black hole picture but it doesnāt do shit for me tbh.
Itās more of the fact that it could be done than the image itself. In a way, itās literally looking at ānothingā.

Yeah. This. The lead scientist devoted over 2 (I think maybe even more) years of her life collecting data and doing countless amounts of tests to see if it could happen and it finally did.
Edit: she collected over 5 petabytes (over 5.2 MILLION GIGS) of data to make that one photo happen.
She also had a TED talk 2 years ago saying it was possible and weād be able to do it within 2 years time.
This may not be a major thing to a normal person but in the science and astronomy field this is beyond historic and the definition of ground breaking.

It is more that scientist figured out how to photograph an object that just donāt absorb light, but also pulls light into it self. We got now visual evidence of an object that should be impossible to see. Scientist took Petabytes of radio signal data from 8 different Radio Telescopes and combine them in a super computer to get one image. Data from additional radio telescopes can improve the quality of the image.

How often do you guys shave your faces?
I canāt really grow facial hair. The most facial hair Iāve had was a half ass attempt at a goatee when I was in my early 20ās. It took me over a year and a half to grow. I fucking hated it but my girlfriend at the time loved it and kept wanting me to grow it out. As soon as we broke up I shaved it. Lol.
I can usually go for 3-4 months before I even notice facial hair but Iām just too lazy to shave it. I wait until itās more noticeable or to the point where I canāt traditionally shave it. then I just go to the barber and get a straight razor shave.
I like to be pampered. Lol

Man Iunno. I just donāt. Both my grandpa and my dad werenāt able to grow any real kind of facial hair until well into early 40ās. Like, my dad would have the occasional mustache but itād look laughably bad so heād end up shaving it a week or so later after it fully grew in. Now he shaves like every other day unless he wants to grow his beard out.
I dislike facial hair (and body hair in general) though. I love growing my hair out but likeā¦any other body hair is just gross to me. On me anyways.
I think beards are good looking on dudes but itās gotta be within reason. Not like Paul Bunyan, Lumberjack hipster beard but likeā¦business casual beard? My best friend can grow a REALLY nice business casual beard and it looks GREAT on him. I always get unreasonably angry at him whenever he shaves it.
I havenāt shaved with a razor in probably over 5 years. Razor bumps are hell. For the most part I keep a full beard. If I do cut it off, itās with a set of clippers. Last time I styled it differently was for my wedding, and that was almost two years ago.

What the hell is a casual business beard lol. But yeah I donāt grow my facial hair I like my ābabyā look I guess. People say I look like 26-27 ( Iām 33). Also fuck hipster beards we got ton of those here. To me it looks like everyone is copying themselves and those people all look alike. For some reason they have a beard but still look like pussies.

I call it his business casual beard because heās an accountant at a bank and theyāre not allowed to have the lumberjack super long beards but can have facial hair within reason.

Disregarding the technical achievements that lead to this discovery, weāre looking at visual confirmation of an object that is completely counterintuitive to how we see the world on day to day basis.
Weāve been bombarded with so many theories and sci-fi movie stuff about black holes that itās now a part of the cultural consciousness to the point where the pecularity of such a thing has been somewhat muted, but truly thinking about the fact that weāre essentially seeing a torn hole in space-time is insaneā a star that has collapsed in on itself infinitely to create a singularity of infinite density and zero volume.
