Amazing record! Even though it sounds a lot like Ryan Adams (a lot of things he produces seem to sound like him) Butch is so phenominally talented it can’t help but be a great record! I saw him do an in-store here in Nashville and it was amazing. If you’ve never seen Butch live go. I’ve seen a lot of live shows and Butch is consistently the best live act I’ve ever seen!

I don’t have it. I’d probably spend the day working on a banjo composition I’m putting together for an old Monroe tune called Jerusalem Ridge. Then Rocket League.

He also does the single best Come on Eileen, ever:

You ever heard any of his earlier stuff like Left Of Self Centered? So many great songs. His writing was a little more one dimensional and he’s improved since then but they’re still great records. Even the records he’s made that aren’t as good are still better than many bands’ best imo.

So my respiratory therapist has checked on me a few times already this morning. She either hasn’t noticed or doesn’t care that I’m not wearing my O2. My stats are where they should be and I feel fine, no shortness of breath, no irregular heart beat or chest pains. So I’m just going to keep on not wearing it until I’m told otherwise.

that’s good that you’re not on O2 and that shit isn’t happening.

Got copies of 'em all, mang.

My understanding is you don’t have to give interviews to anyone you don’t want to.
Unless you are under contract to do publicity/promotion.

When years back my uncle tried to run for public office, I refused to do any interviews with reporters. I had to call one paper’s editor to tell them to stop calling me. They were annoyed I refuse to confirm or deny anything. And that largely as my uncle had a unlisted phone number and I was the first person they found in the phone book. So yea, fuck reporters that want to do interviews. They want shit from me, it’s on my terms not theirs.

Ya’ll listen to some weird music.

Then again throughout jr high, high school and my early 20’s I was super heavy into Punk (especially anything political punk like Dead Kennedy’s and the Clash), 3rd wave Ska and unironically swing/vocal jazz/big band (Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., etc.)

So I never listened to Nu Metal, emo, ā€œalt Rockā€ or Pop Rock or Pop Punk (I fucking LOATHED when people said they listened to punk but would name bands like Blink 182, New Found Glory and the likes), I never listened to rap or R&B unless I was hanging out with my sister because that’s what she listened to (that said I respected the fuck out of Wu-Tang, NWA, West Side Connection, Biggie, Tupac because of how antiestablishment and ā€œfuck the manā€ they were. It came across as very ā€˜punk rock’ to me)

I obviously broadened my music taste since jr high and high school but like, I still find the music other people grew up with along side of me very odd since I never exposed myself to it.

I typically listen to a large swath of music. One minute I could be listening to Chromatics, the next I could be listening to some form of black metal.

great admin.

preoccupied moderating a containment thread when there was already a mod present.

If you’re in charge of a whole forum, why wpuld you waste your time moderating a thread that already had hands om moderation?

All that did was stress me the fuck out because people got used to a certain style of moderation and then shit changed over night. So no, none of what I said needs any ā€œretconsā€. Everybody who took that thread seriously was:

S T U P I D

D

Trying to get that thread to make sense is like getting the Lounge to never bring uo tipping again.

I’ve kinda stopped listening to music.
I don’t even turn on the radio when driving.

Other than buying a new ACDC album every blue moon, I’m out.
I know I can use YouTube ,but I don’t know what artists to search out

If anyone has recommendations for rock and dance/electronic stuff, please post.

Musicians I like:
ACDC
Garbage
Smashing Pumpkins
Crystal Method

I mainly listen to subliminal music which is programming me to become the Supreme Light. Ha ha ha! These songs are making me really happy.

And claiming no retcon in that post. is the equivalent of cow tipping in the lounge.

Actually, you should listen to some Butch Walker! Some of the best newer rock you’ll hear that isn’t like nu metal. He’s more if a songwriter but he’s influenced by cock rock of the 70s and 80s but is a better songwriter than a lot of those guys.

As fir electronic, Burial is really fantastic. It’s what they call Future Garage. His stuff has somewhat lo-fi production but great songs and a really cool vibe to it. Some of it is dancy and it has great beats. ā€˜Untrue’ is his best album imo but everything he’s done is really good.

I’m listening to Babymetal this morning. Im working on a project for a game company doing a soundtrack for a game and they gave me carte blanche to do what I want, and I’m thinking about taking things in a more japanesey direction. I already composed a tune that sounds like it could be on a Guilty Gear OST and it came out great. Even if this stuff isn’t what they want to use, I’ll probably make a record’s worth of it and try to get it placed in some commercials or movie/game trailers.

My 1st real job was in a CD shop, and while it was incredible to have that much access I kind of can’t enjoy new music nearly as much ever since. Almost everything ends up sounding too derivative.
