I know I’m very late this convo, but I just want to say in response to this that there are anonymous quotes from academy awards voters who said that they voted against Black Panther and BlackkKlansman due to trying to fight back against public perception. So while reviewers might not have outwardly talked against it, the academy award voters actively took stances against those movies.

No it didn’t. It showed how dumb some people were though. Anybody that went in there expecting it to be a serious discussion was/is a serious fucking idiot. Whole point of that thread was to keep all the crazy bullshit in one place, but people just had to cry and ask for moderation of a trainwreck.
Any cursory inspection of GDers would’ve let you know that we have a bunch of conservatives, dudes who’ve caught the bad end of relationships, and other assorted misfits. Absolutely nothing that happened in that thread was surprising in any way, shape or form. The amount of unnecessary stress it caused me just because people went in there in a high horse and got trolled to oblivion though was dumb as all fuck.
You got a bunch of dudes posting random ass youtube videos and people going “Ugh, read this article from the NY Times. Ugh Ugh, Preppy could you please do something about this thread. Even though we were warned that its a containment zone multiple times we just need somebody to moderate how fucking stupid we are for thinking that anybody linking youtube videos is going to stop and read an article from an accredited news source.”
