While I don’t consider Street Fighter games to be the best made, I think there are a few titles in the Street Fighter library that are very fun to play. Championship Edition, New Challengers, Alpha 2, Alpha 3, Second Impact, Third Strike, and Capcom vs SNK 2 (because they screw over the SNK side) are all a really good time. I had a bit of fun with Omega mode Super Street Fighter IV as well despite serious shortcomings, but cannot say that I enjoyed the transition to 3D. I also tried Street Fighter V recently, but it was very difficult to enjoy as many of my favorite characters changed for the worse and the range/flow of the fighting was off.
Max makes fighting game content, not FGC content. A few times it is, but those dont overlap often at all.

His target audience are the dudes that think that MUGEN is best fighting game because it has all characters. I dont hate him, he vids made people take interest in fighting games which is nice, but he doesnt make any content thats relevant to me.
No big deal. But pretty easy to see why dudes in this community dont want to watch cornball shit about KoF 2000 bosses.

Gatekeep all you want - I’m’a be out here celebrating everybody that does want to contribute in whatever way, even if I’m not the target audience for their magnificence. The only gatekeeping I ever did was “don’t be random don’t be ugly.” Worked for us.
I never made any comments about the content of his video, nor do I ever plan to. It’s easier than ever to get out there and produce the kind of content that you want to be in this world: his work is not blocking nor getting in the way of anybody else’s. For every shitty ass FAQ on GameFAQs, there’s a hundred people that used that and went on to better things.

Max target audience has shit all to do with the actual FGC. probably a bit of overlap but nowhere near as much as you think it does. Nobody is pushing away Max fans from showing up to casuals or tournaments either. But yeah, “Hey look I’m screaming about Kage” has tits all to do with how the FGC interacts.
Look at VesperArcade and Rooflemonger (Evil_Canadian here on SRK) who are actually making relevant content to the community.

Fuck if I know. I think he’s done some MvC(x) stuff from time to time, but since I’m not particularly interested I just don’t watch. It’s new tech I’ve been trying out. I respect him for putting out semi-regular content, tho, even if it’s not my cup of tea.
You guys can hate on Max all you want and yes he does fake hype stuff and might be a shill however, he is a really good content creator with really good production values compared to other people. He’s good at generating interest and gives out good gaming information. He needs to get credit for that at least.

Nobody here has said anything bad about Max yet, it just isnt FGC content. Its stuff to get the casuals to feel good. Which is smart because they’re marks for that sort of stuff.
Buuut, idgaf if he can beat some boss or not if he spent two days playing Twelve. Vast majority of 3S fgc players are likely to feel that way too. Which is fine, he aint trying to me or a lot of the people on SRK to watch.
It sorta makes me miss the days of Gootecks and Mike Ross’ Excellent Adventures, before Mike Ross had some mental breakdown of sorts, dumped SF and then kinda plays DOTA and Guilty Gear now?
