The Link: The Quick-Disconnect JLF Shaft!

OK, I got the first batch of pieces from the machine shop, I put together a few of them and they perform pretty damn well. It’s more than enough to fill pre-orders plus a bit extra, but I’m waiting for a bit of help before tackling the full assembly.

Short of the long, I’ll be putting them together probably early next week, probably Tuesday. So chances are if you had a pre-order I’ll be filling it next week. I’m pretty stoked about it, can’t wait to freak the shit out of my friendly neighborhood post office with the box stack I’ll be dropping off LOL

Before I send them out I’ll also probably shoot another short video with quick points of note. In particular is the install to a TE (and similar mainstream sticks), in that you need to remove the dust washer that’s underneath the panel before installing (found that out during SB… didn’t think about that before but it IS something to take note of).

Also of note is that the final product is slightly different than the beta unit I tested in that you cannot go nuts with picking up the whole stick by the ball/bat top, there IS a vertical pull yield strength. It won’t ever come out during play… not by a long shot, I don’t care how hard you mash, but don’t come back and be like “I picked the stick up by the ball top, it came apart and it fell and b0rked my stick” because it’s a bad habit anyway.

Sweet; I’ll definitely try out the magnet thing then.
I think the interesting thing about this magnet strategy is that, assuming one would use a TE or something, you can always take the magnetic hole cover, and stick it to the bottom of the joystick casing. Or attach an additional small metal plate on the side to keep the hole cover handy.

Phreak - I got a HRAP VX SA that I can shoot a vid for when I get my pre-order filled, in case you need help on that front.

My hands hurt… so much right now.

Totally worth it.

Guess what I’m doing for the next couple of days? Get ready boys and girls, they’re coming.

Whoohoooo! You da man!

The funny story is that, back in mid-August when I made my preorder for the Link, I told myself: “Man, I’ll have to wait until late Oct or early Nov to get my Link? My new stick casing will be shaft-less for months!” Fast forward to now (late Oct), and my new casing is still not done.

Hey phreak,

Just throwing this out there is anyone contacts you interested in getting their link powder coated just tell them to Pm me. I had somebody ask me the other day about it and after looking at you design it looks like it wont be a problem.
Great alternative to a shaft cover and a lot more durable than standard paint

You still taking pre-orders for this awsome product?

If you get a good process going, I’ll just put up info in the OP to avoid that whole exchange of contact. Are you pre-ordered? If so, do it to your pre-order as an example so I can put up a picture for reference. If you can do it without messing with the action of things (collar movement, dust washer not catching, etc)… fuck I’ll get mine coated by you.

Nah, pre-orders ended a long while ago. Once I get these out to those fine peoples I’ll figure out where to go from there… I’m not 100% on a solid ETA for everyone else to snag one, I’ll keep people posted though. Ideally it won’t be long, just trying to figure out some of my own scheduling first.

THIS ^^^ Just take my Monies already! LOL

Got my te kitty. Just waiting for the link so I don’t have to open the stick again.

it’s 6 screws! DO EET!

The beauty of powder coating is it all electrostatic, it doesn’t cake on like paint to restrict movement. If you have any factory seconds or non functional model I can do a demo model for you no charge I just need the top section the base can stay the neutral silver here is a example one of the crazier colors of some a flip-flop black stardust and this a crappy picture

The flash throws off the color it’s really a black that changes color tilted in different light

Please say you’ll ship to the UK once the final ETA is through :<

Rooser - That would be pretty interesting to see. You didn’t answer me though, are you on the pre-order list? If you are, I’ll make a note to toss in a bum top piece just to play with so you don’t ruin your bought one on accident.

Yeah definitely, I can’t imagine a reason not to once things fall into place

No I’m not on pre-order list let me know if you want me to do a demo I’m not worried about ruining the link it is full steel with a spring there is no plastic/silicon parts right?

I am, send mine to him and have him powder coat it for me! haha
I’ll pay for the shipping back

I’d prefer to send the pre-orders to the entered destinations, but when I get to yours I’ll put it aside and save it… I’m interested to see how these turn out with a coating. You ordered a couple if I’m not mistaken, so I’d send all of them over to him, I couldn’t piece it apart… it’d get too confusing for my records.

Rosser - Nope, completely stainless steel construction

Packed up a bunch tonight to drop off tomorrow, will continue packing tomorrow and probably into Friday. I don’t have the fastest system in place, but they’ll all be filled and in the mail by the weekend so anyone in the US can probably expect them end of next week at the latest.

Got my shipping notification. Super stoked. I’m going to try plastidip on mine (the spray kind so it doesn’t mess with the spring)

got my notification too. Just made my night =)
