The League of Legends Thread: Winter is...coming?

Haunting Guise isn’t a troll item, especially on manaless champs

Try Riven vs Vlad

You shouldn’t win every trade IMO. To clarify what I mean:

Between winning every trade and getting your CS, I’d go for CS. Although this isn’t so black and white. You should always judge whether or not trading is worth and I’m assuming you’re doing that already; however from what you’re describing, it sounds as if you may be sacrificing too much possible CS to keep doing trades with him. If all he has to do is run at you and Q to make you miss a few CS every wave, he’s doing his job right. Also, the part where vlad suddenly shows up and his Q does way too much damage shows there’s more to the situation. Either he’s got mpen/AP runes/masteries, or you’re not building for that specific match-up.

Now, I’m not trying to sound cocky or anything. This is all IMO with the information given. I’m off the mark here please let me know

Quick Edit: I don’t mean you shouldn’t aim to win every trade (in case there’s still some lingering wtf’s about that). I mean, not every poke is worth trading over. There’s plenty of times (w/ Kayle especially) I’ll stand there and take a poke or two while wiping their entire minion wave. Especially if it means that they’ll be pushed up to their turret. If the vlad is good enough to last hit while the turret’s pickin’ off minions, then he’s good enough to be doing that while trying to poke/trade with me. In that case, I’ll just guarantee me my CS and let him worry about not fuckin up while under his turret.

+3 BlueJays and I’m an hour late.

Lets play :o

What, a, game…

So I have been playing this game for a week and I’m currently level 14. I have some questions.

There is what seems to be the generally accepted team compostion of
Jungler
AD range/melee TOP
Ranged AP MID
Ranged/Support.

I understand junglers and can somewhat understand Mid, but the accepted compositions for top and bottom I am not entirely understanding. Dragon control is one thing I get. But what makes one pairing better than another to accomplish that? I noticed for the most part at my level its pretty irrelevant, but I do want to understand.

Is there a FAQ or someplace I can go to get a better understanding of lane roles and objectives? I have searched but I haven’t found any detailed explanations. At my level it feels like. A) Farm/Harass
B) Kill shit

So far I have been using and trying to become more adept with Teemo, Nunu, Ziggs (these three seem to have a very shallow learning curve) Nautilus, Draven, Darius and Poppy. I started using Poppy a few days ago and fell in love with her tackle and her ability to eat up tanky ADs as well as tower diving. Then I picked up Darius with my IP. And, while I do see the differences between the two Darius seems to fill the role so much better (tower diving and 1v2 aside). His early game seems so much better. His true dmg and natural armor pen. seems just as good at eating away beefies as Hybrid Poppy, not to mention the spammability of his ult. Is this why I never see Poppy in use? I would like to be able to use her in higher levels with out looking like a troll, but I don’t mind face rolling with Darius either.

Last thing. Anyone have tips for Nautilus? I struggle lane farming/jungling with him and only seem to understand ganking with him after picking up his ult. Sorry for all the Qs.

I’m wondering whether or not I should grab Zyra. Seems pretty good.

I haven’t tried him lane, but generic Jungle Naut goes as follows.

Boots and 3 health pots. Get W first, and pop it at 1:35. Do wolves with some team help. Have someone pull blue and finish it off. At this point, you have to choose whether to level Q and gank at lvl 2 or lvl E and continue to jungle. I almost always prefer to level E…mainly due to the fact that he doesn’t have enough damage to seal a level 2 gank. If it fails, you’re going to have a tough time jungling. His first couple levels are atrocious. Once your W is level 2, you’ll notice a huge difference in his jungling ease. Continue to wraiths, go back to wolves and then proceed to red. Fuck the golems, they hurt too much. After getting red, you should be level 4, and your gank potential is already outrageous. Go CC someone until they cry.

Ganking a lane does not require you to use your Q to gap close immediately. If you can can, ping ahead of time and zone them with your lane partner and just start with auto attack into E. Save Q for the inevitable flash. If you have red, walk beside them while you auto attack to keep them slowed.

Once you have your ult, initiating becomes a lot easier. Pop it to start things off. After they get knocked up, there is a short stun, so don’t waste your CC by hitting them while they’re still airborne or directly afterwards. Do it once or twice to get a feel for it. Then auto them, E and repeat the above. If you really want to keep them from doing anything, aka they aren’t going to run and might just spam all their spells, use Q to interrupt them as your ult stun wears off. Don’t save your Q for a flash. It gives a brief knock up as well. Also keep in mind that your W does a decent amount of damage and resets your auto attack animation.

Skill Build: R > W > E > Q

Item Build: Boots, 3 health pots, philo stone, heart of gold, boots of mobility, early oracle’s elixir for early map control and ganks

Naut is easily countered by champs that are good counter junglers, since his primary focus is lane ganks. He’s also not that strong early on, so anyone who does good early damage can also meander into the forest and beat him up.

Pretty basic tips, but that should get you started until you get a feel for him yourself.

Edit - Missed saying to use Q after your ult to prevent champs for acting.

Updated with new sale, figures Riot would finally put up Battlecast Urgot when I can’t get him.

That fiddle has a glorious summoner name.

Yeah, that’s great work. Are there any other good sites besides Leaguecraft for custom skins? RP buying is overrated

There is never anything I want in the sales… figures. Oh well.

Thanks alot for that. I appreciate it. I’ll be trying this out in the morning. Should I even bother jungling Naut if the pug groups refuses to leash?

Because she is.

Zyra is on my ban list fuck that champ.

Whendafuq are they gonna update Arcade Sona in the store ;_;

ARCADE SONA IS OUT YO

HELL YES MUST BUY

People refuse to leash? You can still jungle with him but you’d have to start at blue and you will be much slower. Your whole mission when jungling naut is to get him to 4 asap so you can put a point in anchor and gank. Like Pacifist said, you want to activate shield at around 1:32 (so it will be off cooldown by the time you fight blue) attack wolves at 1:40, blue at 1:55ish, then wraiths > wolves again > red > wraiths again and you’re 4 and ready to gank. When ganking try to save anchor until they flash so you can yank them right back. Also, don’t use E while chasing because the animation will stop you and they will be able to outrun the shockwave, it’s best to use it if you are in front of them, after your passive or after anchor. Lastly, Naut isn’t the best duelist so counter jungling can be a problem, especially at your level when no one pays attention to the map or pings so you won’t be able to rely on them to help you out, luckily you have a million forms of CC and a pretty potent shield which should let you escape, and don’t forget you can use your anchor on terrain to pull you towards it which can get you out of a lot of trouble.

This skin is fucking godlike.
