This has got to be one of the best tournaments I’ve attended in Florida ever. It may not have been the biggest one, but definitely the funnest. Now that it’s all over and I’m sitting at work doing absolutely nothing, time for some shoutouts.
Justin Wong - It was really cool hanging out with you this weekend man. Everything from ducking out on marvel, to food runs at Chick-fil-a and Coldstone, to outturtling the weather, to drooling over Boa (I’ll hook you up with some new stuff once I find it), to the top tier chairs, and just talking about whatever. Hopefully I can make it up to NYC some time in the near future.
Flash - Even though I went to NYC twice, I really didn’t get a chance to hang out with you till this past weekend. You’re mad chill and it was coll hanging out with you and Jwo. Don’t worry about the poker table, I’ll get it handled and get back with you on it ASAP. I’ll look you up next I’m ever up in NYC.
Desmond - Always good seeing a fellow laidback warrior. I know you hate console tourneys, but it was good seeing you back down here in Gville. Too bad you weren’t here longer so we could have hung out more, but again, always good to see ya.
Isaac Graham - You freaking beast driving 14 hours all the way down here to Gville. It’s definitely been fun hanging out with you and talking about our little “fix”. Nothing but love for you too honey.
Patrick Henry - Thanks for coming all the way out here again. Your team is always fun to watch, and congratulations on your tournament wins. I sure hope you’re not retiring like you said you were. We’ve lost too many good players already.
Rick Fckin Stalvey - It really sucked that you had to bounce early from the tournament, but thanks for coming up again. You know you’re my boy and it’s never a dull moment when you’re around. Hope to see you again soon.
Alex Navarro - Sorry about the broken AC. At least I was able to get you a spot to stay at in Brian’s apartment. It was also cool hanging out with you. That card trick was one janky little mindboggler, but thanks for telling us how it worked before I pulled my eyes out. All I got to say about this weekend…meat and bananas??? WTF?!
Jmar & Zach - It was too bad I didn’t get to really sit and hang out with you guys until last night when we went out for food at Moe’s. Thanks for coming all the way out here across the country for the tournament. Jason, you’re a beast with MSS and you definitely had some memorable matches. Thanks for all the recording and being chill with everything Zach. Hope you guys had a safe flight back to Seattle.
Roy & Xander - Always good seeing you guys here in Gville. You guys did pretty well in the tournament. Your Omega Red matches against VegitaX’s Rogue team were damn fun to watch. Everyone loves the crowd pleasers, and you definitely let the crowd enjoy themselves.
PSL crew - Hope you’re feeling better Nathan. Sorry I couldn’t hang out with you guys a little more. I was so busy trying to help Brian run the tournament that I couldn’t sit down and play more 3s with you guys. Always a pleasure seeing you all.
Miami crew - Thanks for driving all the way up here for the tournament. I must apologize that GGXX didn’t end up happening for you guys. I promise you that if there is ever another Gville tournament, I will personally see that GGXX gets ran before anything else. Despite all the smacktalking, you’re a cool guy Peter. Lovell, it was good meeting you and you have one heckuva Potempkin. Ozzie, sorry about the AC.
Alex, I’ll see you in a few weeks when fall starts. Finally, even though we really didn’t get to talk much until that 10 minute conversation right before the finals of mvc2, it was definitely worthwhile. It’s awesome how you’re willing to drive everyone up for the sake of the community and bringing people together. I do hope this tournament didn’t leave too bad of a sour taste in your mouth.
Blaziniflo - Mad props to you for promoting this tournament. Without you, no one would’ve gotten to personally see the clash of the marvel titans. This is hands down the best promotion I’ve seen you done for mvc2 yet and I’m serious when I say that NO ONE does it better.
Brian Graham - Finally last but not least, mad props to the Omega himself. It was great and an honor helping you run your last tournament here in Gainesville. You’ve been a staple to the SRK community, but most importantly, a great friend to all of us who have gotten to know, care, and love you the past few years. You’ve shown the strength to carry on 100 fold what I could possibly do myself, and it saddens me that you will be leaving in two weeks. I have all the faith in the world that you will beat this again, and I promise you when the dust is settled, I’ll be out in Hawaii sitting on lawnchairs, sipping margaritas, and talking about how badass pirates are with you again.
Everyone else - Thanks for coming out to the tournament. We had people from everywhere show up: Seattle, NYC, Maryland, Louisiana, ATL, and all over FL. It really shows the unity we have in the SF community, however more importantly, it was a great way to say goodbye to one of our finest, Brian Graham aka Mummy-B.
